Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger To Leave The X Factor With Steve Jones

Simon Cowell is reportedly making major changes to The X Factor. Reports indicate the former American Idol judge has decided to axe Paula Abdul along with Nicole Scherzinger and Steve Jones. Jones confirmed his departure from the show on Monday and a Fox spokesperson confirmed Scherzinger’s exit, but rumors about Abdul’s status as an X Factor judge have not been addressed.

Cowell invited Abdul to join the judge’s panel along with himself, Scherzinger and LA Reid after she left American Idol in 2009. “I missed her the second she left (Idol). Always loved working with her even though she can be a pain. I don’t know what it is about her, but I’ve always clicked with her. You just have to get that chemistry, and she’s right. I’ve never found anyone better than her,” he said at the time.

Neither Cowell nor Abdul has commented. The first season of The X Factor wrapped up last December with Melanie Amaro being declared the winner. The second season will premiere this fall.

Elton Planning To Scale Back On Touring When Son Starts School

Sir Elton John is planning to cut back on his tour commitments in the coming years so he can be by his young son’s side when he starts school.

The I’m Still Standing hitmaker has been busy travelling the globe with his partner David Furnish and their 13-month-old son Zachary ever since the tot was born, but John admits that’s all going to stop soon.

He explains, “At the moment, he’s portable so he can come with us. He’s been to Hawaii twice, Australia, Italy, France, Singapore, Canada. He comes where we go. That’s going to be a little more difficult when he’s four years old and we take him to school. I want to be there much more when he’s in school.”

Cher Laughs Off Death Rumors and Tweet’s She’s "Not Going Anywhere"

Cher laughed off rumours of her death and assured fans that she is very much alive and kicking. False news of the pop star’s death hit Twitter on Friday and the prank managed to fool a number of celebrity fans including socialite Kim Kardashian.

“Did I just hear Cher has passed away? Is this real? Omg (oh my God)… I hope this is a Twitter joke and not true. I don’t see it on the news anywhere. I’m praying its (sic) not true…,” a website has quoted her as tweeting.

The rumours soon reached Cher herself and the singer was so amused by the story, she even joked on the social networking site about writing a song called Rip for her new album.

“Well here I am Tweeting from the HereAfter! It’s very blue up here & thank God they gave me a view of the sea, palm trees and a Balinese house… Lovelies,” she said.

“I’m not going anywhere till i finish this fkng (sic) album! The only Rip I know how 2 (sic) do is ‘Rip it up! Kick a** and take no prisoners!… Just had great idea… I’m going to ask (my songwriter) to write a song 4 (sic) album!” she added.

Katy Perry Makes First Post-Split Appearance

Katy Perry was smiling Friday night in Las Vegas as she stepped out for her first U.S. public appearance since her split with husband Russell Brand just before New Year’s.

Katy was at the 1OAK club at the Mirage Hotel to support GiveLove.org, a charity founded by Patricia Arquette that helps Haiti’s earthquake victims, and she walked down the red carpet sporting blue hair and a sexy black cocktail dress.

The event was co-hosted by her best friend, jewelry designer Markus Molinari, who toldPeople magazine that the singer was doing “amazing” and she’d decided to attend the event because “that’s what friends do.”

At the event, which was also attended by David Arquette and Balthazar Getty, Katy and J. Molinari jewelers, the company for which Markus works, presented a $50,000 check to GiveLove.

After the event, Katy tweeted, “Thanks to everyone who helped out w/the @givelove event at Mirage & 1 Oak LV. Go to http://www.givelove.org to see how u can MAKE a difference!”

Liam Neeson’s ‘The Grey’ Howling Its Way To $18 Million Weekend

Liam Neeson‘s new thriller ‘The Grey’ is expected to comfortably win the box-office battle this weekend. The movie, which sees Neeson’s character attempting to evade a pack of Alaskan wolves, took around $6.5 million on Friday and should have taken $18 million by Monday, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The early success of the movie appears to cement Neeson’s unlikely new status as one of Hollywood’s most bankable action stars. Recent turns in ‘Taken’ and ‘Unknown’ were both hugely popular with audiences, and ‘The Grey’ is likely to pick up where they left off. Elsewhere at this weekend’s box office, Katherine Heigl stars in ‘One for the Money’, based on the detective novels of author Janet Evanovich. The actress plays the unemployed and newly divorced Stephanie Plum, who manages to land a job at her cousin’s bail-bond business and is assigned the job of tracking down a local cop from her romantic past. After taking around $4.3 million on Friday, One for the Money is expected to take around $12 million this weekend to finish in second place. The weekend’s third new movie, action-thriller Man on a Ledge, starring Sam Worthington, had an underwhelming Friday by taking just $2.5 million. The film is likely to gross around $6 million over the weekend.

Liam Neeson is currently filming a sequel to ‘Taken’, in which his character Bryan Mills is taken hostage by the father of a kidnapper he killed in the original movie.
