Actress Lindsay Lohan has submitted a doctor’s note to skip her Los Angeles court appearance on Wednesday after reportedly becoming ill while in New York.
The Mean Girls star is due to appear in court to fight claims she violated her probation from a 2011 necklace theft conviction by allegedly lying to a police officer following a car crash in California last summer.
She faces three charges from the incident – giving false information to a police officer, obstructing or resisting a police officer in the performance of his duty and reckless driving, which carries a jail sentence of over 240 days.
However, it appears Lohan won’t be well enough to attend her first hearing in person – on Tuesday, her new lawyer, Mark Heller, filed legal papers notifying the judge that she has been ordered by doctors not to fly after coming down with an upper respiratory infection.
In his court documents, Heller claimed Lohan had been examined by a Big Apple medic on Saturday – the same day she was photographed shopping in Manhattan. Those pictures have since surfaced on TMZ.com.
The new charges are the latest in a slew of legal problems for the star – she is also battling allegations of assault in New York, where she is accused of punching a female club-goer during a night out in November.
