MTV Launches "MTV Voices", Its New International Pro-Social Platform, During the "2011 MTV EMA" Weekend

MTV today announced that Justin Bieber and the Northern Ireland Youth Forumwill be honoured with the first-ever MTV Voices Awards at a special event during the “2011 MTV EMA” weekend in Belfast.MTV Voices is MTV’s new pro-social platform, a unique online space launching Saturday, 5th November that highlights socially positive and inspirational content produced by a select team of global correspondents, international and local music artists and MTV’s audience. In the U.S., the show will premiere on Tr3s: MTV, Música y Más on Sunday, November 6th at 6:00PM ET/PT, and on mtvU on Monday, November 7th at 12:00PM ET/PT. The “2011 MTV EMA” is sponsored by Dell, Replay, Hyundai and Swatch.

Britney Spears Nabs The Nod For North American Worldwide Act

MTV today announced the five nominees that will compete in the all-new Worldwide Act category at the “2011 MTV EMA”. For the past five weeks, MTV has given fans across the globe a chance to vote for their favorite hometown artists, all to help that local act secure the nomination and represent their respective region at this year’s EMA. Starting today, these five nominees will go head to head in one last round of voting in an effort to earn the Worldwide Act distinction. The five global finalists are:Britney Spears (North America); Lena (Europe); BIGBANG (Asia Pacific); Abdelfattah Grini (Africa/India/Middle East); and Restart (Latin America).

Hosted by multi-talented singer and actress Selena Gomez, the “2011 MTV EMA” will premiere Sunday, 6th November at 9PM CET* from Belfast, Northern Ireland. MTV today announced the nominees for the “2011 MTV EMA” with Lady Gaga leading the pack with six nods, and Katy Perry and Bruno Mars following closely behind with four nominations. British songstress Adele, who stands as the top-selling artist of the year, has been nominated for three awards, with Justin Bieber and Thirty Seconds To Mars also up for three. The 18th annual MTV EMA will broadcast live on Sunday, 6th Novemberat 9PM CET from Belfast’s Odyssey Arena on MTV channels around the world.
