Boy Meets World

Disney Channel Girl Meets World Gets Green Light

We’re pretty excited about this!  How many of you watched Boy Meets World?….
The highly anticipated Boy Meets World spin-off Girl Meets World has been given the green light by TV bosses.

Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel teamed up this spring to reprise their roles as childhood sweethearts, now grown up with a young daughter of their own.

The show has now been picked up by impressed network executives at Disney, who have ordered a full series. Production is slated to begin in Los Angeles this summer.

In a statement, creator Michael Jacobs says, “I am grateful to everyone at Disney Channel for the opportunity to reach my favorite audience, which has always been kids. Girl Meets World is a new show for a new generation that will be rooted in the same kind of honest, comedic storytelling about coming of age and the importance of family and friendship that made Boy Meets World so popular.”

Girl Meets World, which stars 11-year-old Rowan Blanchard as Savage and Fishel’s daughter, is scheduled to premiere on the Disney Channel next year.

Boy Meets World Sequel

A sequel to Ben Savage’s hit TV series Boy Meets World is in the works.

The coming-of-age sitcom, which wrapped in 2000 after seven seasons, followed young lovers Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence – portrayed by Savage and Danielle Fishel – through their high school years.

The two tied the knot in the final episode and now the Disney Channel is developing a new show about the couple’s lives as parents to a pre-teen daughter.

According to TVLine.com, Michael Jacobs, who produced the original show, is courting Savage and Fishel to reprise their roles for Girl Meets World.
