Rising Rocker Dayme Meets Iconic Joan Jett At Coney Island 7-20-11

Last Thursday’s debut Seaside Summer Concerts at Coney Island featured the one-and-only JOAN JETT; performing with her terrific band. Jett rocked the SRO crowd with her signature hits: “I Hate Myself For Loving You,” “Bad Reputation” and a dynamite re-working of The Tommy James and The Shondells hit “Crimson and Clover.” It was also an opportunity for her to connect with new-rising performer DAYME – whose debut album FUSION SUNDAE will be released in September. Dayme writes her own music, as well as performs with her band The Kicks. Her career and forthcoming album has started a bidding war of sorts in the industry; as the power-players realize what a prize she is. It’s so rare these days for an artist, let alone a new one, to be able to do so much. Her show last week at Spike Hill in Williamsburg, brought out a number of interested labels to see her. And, that was certainly noteworthy as only minutes before her show began a summer thunderstorm blanketing the area with sheets of rain. Her show was a strong one that included a dramatic reimaging of the White Stripes/Dolly Parton song “Jolene.” In fact, her performance on that song brought the crowd to its feet. Her band: Freddie Simpson, bass; Elliot Klien, guitar; Kute, guitar; Julian Blackmore, keyboards, and RJ Rabin, drums were just superb. Two other songs, “Sunshine” and “Let Me Introduce Myself” were gems too. Dayme is the personification of music that makes you move … and, feel. Check her out via
