Davy Jones Autopsy Confirms Heart Attack

The final autopsy report has been released on Davy Jones confirming that the member of the Monkees had suffered a heart attack.

66-year old Jones was discovered to have had a severe build-up in his arteries. The official cause of death was coronary artery atherosclerosis (or a massive heart attack). Jones was found to have an abnormal heart rhythm.

The report also found Jones had cannabinoids in his system at the time of death but it was not revealed if it was from smoking marijuana.

Davy Jones died at his home in Florida on February 29, 2012. He had complained of breathing problems in the morning but was pronounced dead by the time he arrived at hospital.

A memorial was held for Davy in New York. His daughters Talia and Annabel, former Monkees Peter Tork and Mickey Dolenz and singer Deana Martin (daughter of Dean Martin) sang a tribute of Monkees hits at the event. Read more>

Memorial For Davy Jones Held in England

Close friends and relatives of the late The Monkees star Davy Jones bid farewell to the singer a private memorial service in his native country, four days after he was laid to rest in Florida.

His ashes were flown to the U.K. after Jones’ remains were cremated during a service attended by the singer’s immediate family members at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Indiantown last Wednesday, and another memorial for the star was held at his childhood church this weekend.

Jones’ widow, Jessica, and his four daughters from previous relationships traveled to Manchester to meet his British-based family, and they all gathered at Lees Street Congregational Church to remember the late star once again.

His niece Beverley Barber says, “From a family perspective we’ve said our goodbye. We managed to keep it very private and very personal. All his family together in one room. He’d have been thrilled to bits to see that.

“He came home to Manchester. His ashes weren’t scattered in Manchester although they were placed on his parents’ grave for a little while.”

Jones moved to America in the mid-1960’s after finding fame as the frontman of the I’m A Believer hitmakers.

The 66-year-old died on February 29th after suffering a heart attack at his ranch in Florida.
