Miley Cyrus Applauds Disney’s Creation Of First Same-Sex Couple

Actresses Miley Cyrus and Evan Rachel Wood have applauded writers at Disney Channel sitcom Good Luck Charlie for creating the TV network’s first same-sex couple.

The family-friendly show’s fourth and final season will feature a character with two lesbian moms when it premieres next year (14), and a spokesperson for the company tells TVGuide.com, “This particular storyline was developed under the consultancy of child development experts and community advisors.

“Like all Disney Channel programming, it was developed to be relevant to kids and families around the world and to reflect themes of diversity and inclusiveness.”

Now gay rights advocate Cyrus, who got her start on the channel’s hit series Hannah Montana, has praised TV chiefs for taking a step in the right direction.

In a post on Twitter.com, she wrote, “I commend Disney for making this step into the light of this generation. They control… so much of what kids think! Life isn’t bright sets & wardrobe & kids becoming superstars! This is INSPIRING”.

Meanwhile, The Ides of March star Wood, who is bisexual, posted a link to the news on her social networking account and added, “Hell yea.”

In a statement, creator Michael Jacobs says, “I am grateful to everyone at Disney Channel for the opportunity to reach my favorite audience, which has always been kids. Girl Meets World is a new show for a new generation that will be rooted in the same kind of honest, comedic storytelling about coming of age and the importance of family and friendship that made Boy Meets World so popular.”

Demi Lovato’s Uncle Attacks Handlers For Working His Niece Too Hard

Troubled star Demi Lovato’s uncle has attacked his niece’s handlers for not giving the teenager enough time off and working her too hard.

The singer pulled out of the remaining dates of the Jonas Brothers’ world tour last weekend (Oct 30) and checked into rehab to tackle “emotional and physical issues”.

Reports have surfaced that Lovato fought with one of her backing dancers before quitting the tour, but her uncle Francisco Lovato insists the rehab spell has more to do with the fact his niece is exhausted.
He tells website TooFab.com, “I saw Demi in August, I went to one of her concerts with The Jonas Brothers outside of Sacramento, and she totally rocked it out, and did a great show, there was great energy.

“She was in good spirits it seemed, but I made a small comment, and the one thing I said to her was, ‘Demi, you’re working hard, and I know people love your talent, and you’re busting it out…’ but then she turned around and looked at me with a major look of seriousness, and she said to me, ‘Look, I work really hard.’ She had this look of exhaustion.

“I spoke to (Demi’s mom) Dianna… and she said, ‘I’m trying to get her two days off in a row, because she’s having to work day in and day out.’ I’d like Demi to chill out for a little.”

He’s not the only family member worried about how hard the teen star works – her father, Patrick, has blamed the “pressures” of fame for her problems.
