Frozen Soundtrack Chills Out the Album Chart Frozen Soundtrack Competition

The soundtrack to Disney’s winter movie Frozen has landed the film a very rare double in the U.S. — number ones on the Billboard 200 album chart and the box office countdown in the same week.

It becomes only the fourth animated film soundtrack to reach number one in the chart’s 58-year history, ending Beyonce’s reign at the top of the countdown in the process.

The project, featuring songs by the movie’s actresses Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel, and pop star Demi Lovato, reaches the top with New Year week sales of 165,000 and claims the number one spot as much of America freezes as winter weather brings many cities to a standstill.

Beyonce’s self-titled album drops a spot from number one, where it spent three weeks, while Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2 stays put at three and Katy Perry’s PRISM rises from five to four.

Meanwhile, Timber, Ke$ha’s new collaboration with Pitbull, ends Eminem and Rihanna’s four-week reign at the top of the Bilboard Hot 100 singles countdown – and lands a TransAtlantic double. The track hit the top of the U.K. charts on Sunday.

The news will give the Tik Tok singer something to smile about after checking into rehab last week to seek treatment for an eating disorder.

Beyonce and Eminem have started the new year as they ended 2013 — on top of the U.S. charts.

Beyonce’s self-titled surprise Christmas treat album rings in 2014 as America’s top choice for a third week. Thanks to a solid year-ending 310,000 sales week, the new release has sold over one million units – in just 17 days.

She also becomes the first artist to land three consecutive 300,000-sales weeks since 2009.

One Direction move up a spot to two with Midnight Memories, while Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2 also rises to three.

The British boy band celebrate another one million seller this week – five weeks after releasing Midnight Memories.

Meanwhile, Eminem and Rihanna’s The Monster rules the Hot 100 singles countdown, keeping Pitbull and Ke$ha’s Timber off the top of the chart. It gives Rihanna another countdown milestone – she becomes one of only three acts to land 51 or more weeks at number one with her 13th chart-topper. Only Mariah Carey (79) and the Beatles (59) have more weeks at the top.

Rounding out the Hot 100’s top three is OneRepublic’s Counting Stars.

Eminem, Oprah Winfrey, Tom Hanks Offer to Mentor Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun has been inundated with offers from the likes of Eminem, Oprah Winfrey and Tom Hanks to mentor the teen superstar.

The Baby hitmaker’s ill-advised antics on tour and at home in California, which have included brushes with the law and headline-grabbing incidents, have prompted big names to offer up their help and advice.

Bieber’s bad behavior has included nightclub altercations, arguments with his neighbours, disappointing fans by rushing through meet and greet sessions and public urinating  claims.

The incidents have prompted a slew of concerned celebrities to reach out to Braun to see if there is anything they can do to help the youngster avoid destroying his career, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In a candid new interview with Braun and Bieber, the singer’s manager reveals he has fielded calls and emails from Winfrey, singer Adam Levine, rapper Drake and Mark Wahlberg, while Hanks’ wife Rita Wilson offered up her husband’s counselling skills to help the 19 year old avoid the pitfalls of fame.

And Braun claims Eminem’s manager, Paul Rosenberg, told him, “If you ever want Eminem to talk to him (Bieber), he would do it in a second. He cares about that kid.”

Braun has yet to take up the stars’ offers to advise Bieber during times of trouble as there is already one big name who is trying to keep the teen in check – Will Smith.

Braun claims Smith, whose son Jaden is good friends with the singer, once paid Bieber a much-needed visit and pulled him out of bed for a three-hour chat.

The manager recalls, “He (Bieber) said, ‘Man, that makes me feel so loved. I woke up, and there’s Will Smith, one of, if not the, biggest movie stars on the planet. He took time out of his day for me.'”

Smith has continued to make himself available to Bieber for weekly phone conferences, but the Independence Day actor has warned Braun the youngster will have to live and learn from his own mistakes: “He’s telling me: ‘Justin’s got to go through it. You can’t stop him from going through it. That’s youth in itself. He’s a young man who’s growing up, and that’s what makes him interesting and relatable. Otherwise, he’d be some kind of weird robot.'”

During the interview, Bieber expressed his carefree attitude towards his critics, saying, “I don’t (care) what they say… I know who I am and what I’m doing in my life and what I’ve accomplished and continue to accomplish as a performer, as a writer, as an artist, as a person, as a human being. I’m happy with the man I’m becoming.”

Miley Smokes Weed Onstage And 6 Other Can’t-Miss EMA Moments

The biggest party in Amsterdam on Sunday night (November 10) was the 2013 MTV EMA , which featured performances from Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, and even Eminem, and while a good time was to be expected, there were also a few surprising moments from the broadcast. Miley Cyrus made the list twice–shocking.

Miley Cyrus Lights Up On Stage
When in Amsterdam…smoke joints onstage? Miley Cyrus celebrated a win for Best Video with “Wrecking Ball” by saying thanks and also declaring that her award couldn’t fit in her purse. What did fit in her purse, though, was a joint, which she pulled out and sparked up on stage. Maybe she did it in honor of Biggie and Tupac, since she wore a dress with their faces plastered across it earlier in the night when she strolled down the red carpet.

Eminem’s Daughter, Halie, Crowned Homecoming Queen

Rapper Eminem reunited with his ex-wife Kim Mathers last week to cheer on their teenage daughter as she was crowned homecoming queen at her Michiganhigh school.

The reclusive hip-hop superstar, who famously documented his troubled relationship with Mathers on his early albums, showed his support to Hailie Jade Scott by turning up at Chippewa Valley High School’s football stadium in Clinton Township on Friday night, when the 17 year old was voted the most popular, alongside homecoming king Tyler Knepp.

A source tells local paper The Macomb Daily, “Hailie came out with her mother Kim (Scott) when she was introduced with all the other kids, but her father watched from inside the school because he didn’t want to cause a scene – he wanted Hailie to have her own moment.”

George Sobah, president of the Chippewa Valley Board of Education, says, “I heard our people had him in the cafeteria so he could see what was going on outside, but I can’t confirm that.”

Eminem divorced his high school sweetheart Mathers for the second time in 2006. They share joint custody of Hailie.

Eminem Brings Dido Onstage At Britain’s Reading Festival

Hip-hop  star Eminem surprised revellers at Britain’s Reading Festival on Saturday (24Aug13) when he brought singer Dido onstage during his headlining set.

The rapper, real name Marshall Mathers Iii, topped the bill on the second night of the event, following punk trio Green Day after they performed on Friday night (23Aug13).

The crowd roared as Eminem, who was 20 minutes late, took the stage and opened with new single Survival, before playing hits including Lose Yourself and The Way I Am.

He told fans, “I feel like I’m not even working right now, just having fun. I think this is the loudest crowd we’ve ever had – I’m not joking.”

Dido arrived unannounced when Eminem began his hit Stan, which features a sample of the singer’s  track Thank You. He hugged the Brit after they finished the song and told the audience, “Make some noise for Dido, y’all!”

Eminem was backed by a live band, and wrapped up the show with a medley of three of his greatest hits, My Name Is, The Real Slim Shady and Without Me.

The Grammy winner will repeat the set at Reading’s sister site in Leeds on Sunday night (25Aug13).

Eminem Offers Hope to Addicts in New Documentary: How To Make Money Selling Drugs

Rapper Eminem has opened up about his struggle to get clean in a new documentary, assuring suffering addicts life “does get better” once they conquer their dependency demons.

The Stan hitmaker is now sober after a four-year hell of painkiller and sedative abuse, which led to a near-fatal overdose in 2005, and he has shared his experiences in new movie How To Make Money Selling Drugs.

Discussing his overdose, Eminem says, “My organs were shutting down. My liver, kidneys, everything. They were going to have to put me on dialysis. They didn’t think I was gonna make it. My bottom was gonna be death. Within a month (after leaving hospital), I had relapsed and shot right back up to the same amount of pills that I was taking. I remember just walking around my house thinking every single day, I’m gonna… die.”

The hip-hop star is still recovering from the damage he inflicted on his body, but he goes on to offer words of support to others in the throes of addiction.

He adds, “I had to regain motor skills, I had to regain talking skills. It’s been a learning process, I’m growing. You just couldn’t believe that anybody could ever be naturally happy, or naturally function or just enjoy life in general without being on something. I would say that to anybody that it does get better, it just does.”

Moviemaker Matthew Cook’s documentary was produced by Entourage star Adrian Grenier and also features an interview with stoner icon Woody Harrelson.

Eminem and Rhianna Duet Takes Top Honor

The rapper’s duet with the pop star, Love The Way You Lie has been named his most successful single.

The Stan hitmaker teamed up with the Umbrella beauty for the track on his 2010 album Recovery, and the song flew straight to the top of charts around the world.

Now the Recording Industry Association of America has certified the tune as the star’s biggest hit in his 12-year career after it sold more than five million copies.
