George Michael has canceled the remaining leg of his European tour due to sickness. The “Faith” star was hospitalized in Vienna and was advised to cancel the remaining dates of his tour.
“George was recently forced to postponed tour dates in Vienna and Strasbourg, [France] under doctor’s orders after being diagnosed with pneumonia. He is currently receiving treatment,” said the message on his website.
Michael was in the midst of his Symphonicatour, which had 14 remaining dates. He has told fans to hang on to their tickets and await news of rescheduling.
On Symphonica, Michael performs songs from his catalog with a full orchestra backing him. He has also thrown in a few contemporary covers for good measure, including hits byNew Order, the Police, Rihanna and Amy Winehouse.
George Michael put on a star-studded charity show in London on Sunday night (Nov 6) to raise money for Sir Elton John‘s ‘s AIDS Foundation.

in the British capital in front of celebrity guests including Kylie Minogue, Melanie Chisholm, funnyman David Walliams and the Rocket Man himself.
Michael started the performance 40 minutes late, but received rapturous applause from the audience when he finally started the show, and during the concert he thrilled Sir Elton by playing a cover of one of his songs.
However, Michael couldn’t resist poking fun at the veteran star, telling the crowd, “This next song was written by someone I hope has made it in here already – Elton. It’s a song he wrote in the late ’70s and it’s about an ageing pop star. Funny that.” Proceeds from the event will go to Sir Elton’s AIDS Foundation and the Elizabeth Taylor Memorial Fund, which the star created in honour of the late Hollywood veteran.

And the party was an impressive one to take the lucky lady to – George Michael provided the entertainment for the likes of British model/actress Elizabeth Hurley and funnyman David Walliams.
Boy George reached out to George Michael after the Wham! star was sent to prison, writing letters of encouragement to the incarcerated singer.
Boy George, real name George O’Dowd, was jailed last year (09) for the false imprisonment and assault of a male escort in 2007 and was incarcerated at London’s tough Pentonville prison.
Last month (Sep10), a judge sent Michael to the same penitentiary to serve an eight-week sentence for possession of cannabis and driving under the influence of drugs.
And the Karma Chameleon hitmaker admits it was painful to watch his pal’s troubles unfold in the headlines – because it forced him to “relive” his own demons.
He says, “When George Michael got sentenced, it all came back to me and I was with him. You just go numb – completely numb. You go into survival mode; shut down. You don’t know what’s going to happen. After the trial you’re taken downstairs, put in a room, the door gets locked and from then on it’s a mystery.
“I was with George Michael in that holding cell under the court. I was with him, handcuffed, in that hideous police van. I was with him arriving at Pentonville prison and having that kind of physical search. I relived the whole thing. I felt so, so upset. I don’t think I’ve been that upset since it happened to me.” The two singers had previously exchanged vicious comments about each other in the press but they resolved their differences earlier this year (10), with George sending Michael letters of support before his release on Monday (11Oct10).
George adds, “You just send your love and let people know you’re thinking of them – all the cliches, but they do help. I’ve known George for quite a long time. There’s a lot we have in common and it’s getting more like that every day.”

Michael was transferred from London’s tough Pentonville prison to the H ighpoint jail in Suffolk, England where he will serve out the rest of his sentence, but insiders insist the star isn’t interested in making friend s during his stint.
A source tells Britain’s The People, “Everyone calls him The Hermit because he could mix but he has chosen not to… I just think he wants to be alone.”
Pop legend Boy George has offered his support to jailed former rival George Michael.
The former Birmingham-based singer has spent time behind bars himself – and was caged last year for falsely imprisoning a male escort.
George told the Sunday Mercury: “It’s sad about George Michael getting prison. I wish him love and strength, we’ve kissed and made up.”
He added: “I know George needs help but it’s not a time for sanctimonious comments.
“Let’s wish him well and try to live better lives ourselves.”

He dropped a planned appeal against his sentence on Friday (September 17, 2010), j ust hours ahead of a scheduled appeal and bail hearing at a court in Lond on.
Instead he spent the day travelling 70 miles from Britain’s capital to Highpoint Prison in Suffolk, England where he will serve out the rest of his sentence.
Michael’s sentence stems from his arrest in July (10) after he crashed into a shopfront near his home in Hampstead, north London. The star admit ted smoking dope before climbing behind the wheel.
As well as the jail time, Michael was fined $1,875 in court costs, and banned from the roads for five years.
