Sequel to ‘300’ pushed back to March 2014

The release of the highly-anticipated 300 sequel has been pushed back until 2014.

300: Rise of an Empire, the follow-up to Gerard Butler’s 2007 comic book epic, was set to hit cinemas in August but chiefs at Warner Bros. studios have decided to stall the release by seven months.

The film will now be shown next spring, at the same time of year as the release of the original, which proved a surprise hit for the company.

Warners’ president of domestic distribution Dan Fellman explains the decision, saying, “Moving 300: Rise of an Empire to March 7 continues in the tradition of the first 300, and kicks off the spring movie-going season in epic style. The film is on track to become all that audiences have come to expect from the franchise.”

Gerard Butler Talked His Way Out of Speeding Ticket

Scottish actor Gerard Butler once talked his way out of a speeding ticket by telling cops he was busy “saving the world”.

The 300 star admits he had a brush with the law while filming new action movie Olympus Has Fallen when he was caught driving at more than 100 miles-per-hour (161 kilometres-per-hour).

However, Butler managed to avoid a fine by telling cops about his job.

He tells Digitaljournal.com, “I remember once, I was driving down the freeway at over a 100 miles-an-hour and I was just tense, gritting my teeth, and I passed a cop car. The officer put his cop lights on before I even got to him. I have been pulled over by a few cops, but they usually follow you for five minutes and make you sweat. But this guy realised, ‘I ain’t following him, he’s gone.’ I was pulled over, but I was let go after I explained I was saving the world.”

Butler admits the intense work on the film made him act out of character, adding, “When you’ve got to train, you’ve got to get the fight sequences down, you gottalook good, you’ve got to work with all the specialists, you’re working on the script and you’re working with the producers – and then you have to go out and do the f**king role – sometimes, that can be overpowering. But, again it works in this situation, because this is not a normal situation. It was a tumultuous situation to say the least.”

The Croods also reigns supreme at the international box office – the family film has opened with $63.3 million (£39.5 million) outside America in 86 territories.

Gerard Butler Completes Rehab Stint at Betty Ford Clinic

Gerard Butler left the Betty Ford Clinic this morning after completing three weeks of treatment for substance abuse. His rep confirmed the rehab stint, but did not reveal what kind of addiction issues Butler suffered.

“Gerard has completed a successful course of treatment and has returned home in good health. We will not be making any further comment at this time,” Butler’s rep told People magazine.

TMZ reports Butler, who has previously admitted to struggling with an addiction to alcohol, became dependent on prescription pain medication after he was involved in a surfing accident while filming Of Men and Mavericks on December 18. At the time of the accident, Butler’s rep said the actor was briefly hospitalized at Stanford University Medical Centre as a precaution.

“He’s fine. Very scary. For precaution, we all wanted him checked out after it all happened. Came out with flying colors,” the rep said.

Gerard Butler Wants Us To Appreciate His Body

Gerard Butler‘s new, slimmer physique had everyone turning heads. He was hot with his 300 ab-apalooza, but after losing a ton of weight, Gerard proved he’s still got it going on, no matter what body shape he takes on.

While he’s still made of muscle, Gerard’s new svelte figure had some worrying about his health. Not to worry, people. Like a ton of actors with fluctuating weight, it’s for a movie role. Gerard is playing a surfer in an upcoming flick, so he’s been hitting the waves every day.

So how does Butler feel about all the media attention over his body? He told Hollyscoop.com:

“I don’t care, I’ve lost weight. They love to get involved in things like that. It would be nice if they appreciated it.”

Oh, we do. We definitely do.

“I go through all that work and do it for different roles, and get big for 300 or get heavier for a role, or slim down for a role,” Butler told HS at the Machine Gun Preacher movie premiere in Los Angeles. “It’d be nice if they went ‘well look, he’s committed”

Okay, so we’re a little more concerned right now with your hotness, but wait till the movie comes out! I’m sure we’ll all be praising your performance.

In the flick, Gerard plays surf mentor Rick “Frosty” Hesson. Butler recently joked about his dedication to his role:

“I ate my last meal in October and I run about 40 miles a day. I’m joking. It’s just doing a lot of cardio and extremely watching what I eat. I stopped lifting big weights and I’m doing yoga. It’s not hard to be in shape…it’s hard to be in really good shape.”

See, even he knows he’s in really good shape.

“But this is how I look,” he continued. “I just used to be a lot bigger. But now I’m surfing. I don’t know…maybe I’m sick or something!” Over the summer, Gerard was spotted riding his motorcycle down the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. And he had some precious cargo in tow—Jessica Biel. Of course, it spurred a ton of dating rumors. He was also linked to Eddie Cibrian’s ex-wife and Real Housewife starBrandi Glanville. So what’s his relationship status?

“I am single,” Gerard tells us.
