Good Charlotte will launch its new album, Cardiology, with a string of street week television appearances and a free show on the evening of November 4th at Universal CityWalk Hollywood in Universal City, CA. The band will perform on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on November 1st, the eve of the album’s release, and on “Lopez Tonight” on November 5th. Benji and Joel Madden will guest on “Chelsea Lately” on November 2nd and Good Charlotte will appear on FUEL TV’s “The Daily Habit” in mid-November.

Lead single “Like It’s Her Birthday,” tipped by People magazine as one of the “Hot Singles,” is available now at digital retailers. The accompanying video, lensed by Josh Forbes (Barenaked Ladies, The Fray), has been added to MTV Hits, MTV2, mtvU, FUSE and as a Global Video Priority at MTV International. The clip bowed on MySpace.com recently in an exclusive two-day premiere and “Access Hollywood” gave viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the video.
“Good Charlotte are multiplatinum scene superstars, but Cardiology might just be their best effort yet,” said Alternative Press, which awarded the album four out of five stars and featured a Q&A with Benji Madden in its October issue. Recorded with longtime producer Don Gilmore (Linkin Park, Avril Lavigne), Cardiology comes almost exactly a decade after the release of the group’s self-titled debut.
The band – vocalist Joel Madden, guitarist Benji Madden, guitarist Billy Martin, bassist Paul Thomas and drummer Dean Butterworth, who officially joined the line-up in 2007 and is featured on the cover of the November issue of DRUM! – has sold 10 million records, scored numerous mainstream radio hits (including “The Anthem,” “Lifestyles Of The Rich And Famous,” “Hold On” and Girls and Boys”) and toured with everyone from Justin Timberlake to Third Eye Blind. They’ve appeared on the covers of Rolling Stone and Alternative Press, won an MTV Video Music Award and performed on such shows as “Saturday Night Live,” “TODAY,” “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.” Good Charlotte will be featured on the cover of the new issue of Kerrang, due out October 23rd.
From the synth-driven party anthem “Last Night” to slower, more sensitive tracks like “1979” and “Harlow’s Song (Can’t Dream Without You),” Cardiologymasterfully weaves all of Good Charlotte’s disparate musical influences into a fresh, highly personal reflection on the nature of love. Fans who pre-order Cardiology on iTunes will receive the bonus track “Crash.”
“Obviously we’re all in different places in our lives but we’re giving our fans that same honesty we always have,” says Joel Madden. “I get the same feeling of excitement listening to this record that I did when we first started making music.”
“One of the things I’m proudest of about this band is that we don’t have two records that sound alike and I think that’s helped keep us around,” adds Benji Madden. “I think there are some elements on this record that will remind people of our first album and then there are some elements that will remind them of Good Morning Revival, too.”
Cardiology is the band’s fifth studio album and first on Capitol Records. It follows 2007’s Good Morning Revival, which debuted in the Top 10 in 13 countries, including the United States.

Good Charlotte: Sign to Capitol/October Album

Rock sensations Good Charlotte are proud to announce that they have signed to Capitol Records and will be releasing their highly anticipated fifth full-length album Cardiology on October 26, 2010, almost exactly 10 years after their self-titled debut put them on the map as one of the most exciting bands of the decade. Originally formed as a pop-punk band in Waldorf, Maryland, in 1996, Good Charlotte—vocalist Joel Madden, guitarist Benji Madden, guitarist Billy Martin, bassist Paul Thomas and the latest edition, drummer Dean Butterworth—have sold over 10 million records to date and penned countless mainstream radio hits such as “The Anthem,” “Lifestyles Of The Rich & Famous” and “Hold On.”

However more importantly the band have constantly reinvented themselves and refused to limit their potential, whether that means supporting Justin Timberlake on his FutureSex/LoveShow tour or collaborating with Avenged Sevenfold’s M. Shadows and Synyster Gates on their hit single “The River” from Good Charlotte’s 2007 full-length Good Morning Revival. That adventurous musical persona continues withCardiology, an album that features everything from the dance floor-friendly first single “Like It’s Her Birthday” to future GC anthems such as “Silver Screen Romance,” while still effortlessly retaining the band’s signature sound in the process. While in some ways Cardiology is a return to form for these multiple Warped Tour headliners, it also manages to work in elements from throughout the band’s classic catalog to create an album that simultaneously summarizes what Good Charlotte are all about and hints at where they are headed in the future.
Good Charlotte recently wrapped up a two-month run on the Bamboozle Roadshow alongside Boys Like Girls, All Time Low, Third Eye Blind and Simple Plan and they’ll be spending July opening for Pink’s stadium tour in Europe before appearances this fall with a full US tour early next year. While musical trends can be fleeting, Good Charlotte have always proved themselves to be a constant in the music world by sticking to their punk roots without being afraid to expand their horizons and bring in new influences—and Cardiologyis just the latest chapter in the band’s already unparalleled career. We can’t wait to see what the second decade holds in store with Good Charlotte and share Cardiology with the band’s myriad fans and supporters who have been clamoring for this record for the past three years.
