A magnificent cast of television veterans star in “Shadow on the Mesa,” a Hallmark Movie Channel Original World Premiere on Saturday, March 23 (8 p.m. ET/PT, 7C). Start with three-time Emmy® nominees Meredith Baxter (“Family Ties”) and Gail O’Grady (“NYPD Blue”) as well as Kevin Sorbo (“Hercules”), Greg Evigan (“After the Fall”), Barry Corbin (“The Closer”) and Wes Brown (“Deception”). Then add a compelling story about family and justice driving the production, which features Brown as a bounty hunter named Wes Rawlins. A quiet, calculating but honest man who knows his way around a gun, Rawlins is both devastated and enraged by the brutal murder of his mother by a couple of outlaws on the lam. Deciding to take matters into his own hands, Rawlins leaves the warm embrace of his adopted grandparents (Baxter and Corbin) and sets out to find a father from whom he has been long estranged, rancher Ray Eastman (Sorbo). Things get more complicated when Rawlins arrives to find his father locked in a bloody feud with his corrupt neighbor (Evigan), who has his eye on grabbing Eastman’s land. As Rawlins gets to know his father and two half-siblings, Ray’s deceitful wife, Mona (O’Grady) holds a secret that fuels the war to a colossal final showdown. When Rawlins jumps in to defend his newfound family, he finds that things are not what they seem on the surface. The truth about his mom’s murder comes out, and the line separating good from evil becomes muddled. It all makes for powerful human drama in “Shadow on the Mesa,” a period tale that paints a wild picture of the Wild West. It turns out that it was even wilder than we suspected, a place where only the strongest and the most determined survived.
