Gwyneth Paltrow Was Afraid She Would Die In 2011

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow feared she was suffering a stroke during a terrifying health scare at her London home two years ago, she has revealed.

The Hollywood actress was serving lunch to friends in her garden in 2011 when she suddenly fell ill, and Paltrow admits she feared the worst.

In her new cook book, she writes, “One sunny afternoon in London, in the spring of 2011, I thought – without sounding overly dramatic – that I was going to die. I had just served lunch in the garden at home… I had a vague feeling that I was going to faint, and I wasn’t forming thoughts correctly… I got a searing pain in my head, I couldn’t speak, and I felt as if I couldn’t breathe. I thought I was having a stroke.”

Doctors later found Paltrow had suffered a migraine and a panic attack, and she was subsequently told she was “severely anaemic” and “vitamin D deficient” – so she was ordered to change her diet.

The Iron Man star was ordered to cut out coffee, eggs, sugar, shellfish, potatoes, wheat and meat, and admits the eating regime made her feel better, so she gathered her favorite recipes for her latest culinary tome It’s All Good: Delicious, Easy Recipes That Will Make You Look Good and Feel Great.

In the cook book, the actress also reveals the scare prompted her and her family to undergo food allergy testing, which revealed, “everyone in my house is intolerant of gluten, dairy, chickens’ eggs, among many other surprising foods”.

Paltrow has two children with her rocker husband Chris Martin.

Stars Stand Up to Cancer: Julia Roberts, Tom Hanks, Michael Douglas, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Samuel L. Jackson

Julia Roberts, Tom Hanks, Michael Douglas, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Samuel L. Jackson were among the celebrities who joined forces at the Stand Up 2 Cancer telethon.

Robert Pattinson, Justin Timberlake, Matt Damon, Halle Berry and thyroid cancer survivor Sofia Vergara also turned out at the sombre televised event to lend their support to the campaign, which was launched by late Spider-Man franchise producer Laura Ziskin. She lost her battle against breast cancer in 2011, but was remembered with a special video featuring tributes from film stars Tobey Maguire and Emma Stone.

In the clip, Stone said, “Like every great hero, she had a vision and she set us into motion. And now it’s up to us to continue moving forward to achieve her dream.”

Hollywood icon Douglas, who beat throat cancer last year, urged viewers to donate to help find a cure for the killer illness to save other victims of the disease.

He told the audience, “It picked a fight with the wrong guy!… Cancer didn’t bring me to my knees, it brought me to my feet… I stand tonight because I want to be part of this effort to find an end to cancer. This is possible… Cancer’s in for one hell of a fight.”

Country singer Taylor Swift fought back tears as she debuted a new song called Ronan, inspired by a three-year-old boy named Ronan Thompson, who died of the illness last year. The tune was made available for download after the show, with all proceeds being donated to the cancer charity.

Alicia Keys and Tim McGraw also took to the stage during the telethon, while British rockers Coldplay dedicated their performance of Paradise from their concert in Paris earlier that night to the cause.

Meanwhile, a slew of stars including actress Felicity Huffman, True Blood star Joe Manganiello, comedian Ray Romano, basketball ace Kobe Bryant and gold medal-winning Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas manned the phones and chatted with those calling in to pledge donations throughout the night.

Friday’s event was produced by Paltrow, who took over the telethon from her pal Ziskin, and before the show, she opened up about losing her father Bruce to cancer in 2002.

She told reporters: “It’s been almost a decade now and I’m sort of more used to the fact that he’s not here in physical body. But I definitely feel his presence, and I think he would be really happy that I’m here tonight doing this and trying to spare other people from what he went through.”

The amount raised from the telethon was not available as WENN went to press.

Paltrow has also announced plans to take her cancer crusade to London and stage a similar event in October.

Top Five Embarrassing Surgeries Celebs Don’t Want You to Know About

We like to think of the rich and famous as flawless – at least, they would like us to think they are… They are, right? Actually, they are anything, but. Ironically, these people who make their living off of being beautiful (Um, can someone say the Kardashians?) typically end up doing everything they can to hide their incredibly human flaws.
Most think of celebrities as abusing plastic surgery but many do not realize the variety of other embarrassing types of surgeries these very real celebrities undergo and would be horrified if their public found out about them.  So what starts out our list of the top five incredibly embarrassing surgeries our beloved, but not-so-perfect celebrities would hate for us to know about?
#5 – Hair Transplant Surgery – OK, OK, this is borderline cosmetic. With all the fake bosoms floating around Hollywood, it’s about time someone gave the men a hard time. And not just any men – beautiful men have had a little work done, too.
For instance, heart throbs: Matthew McConaughey, Jeremy Piven and the incredibly dreamy Jude Law. Sure, nothing’s been proven. We’ve seen the photos, though, and we ask you to be the judge.
#4 – Excessive Sweating Surgeries – Gross. Of course, one would think that these perfect, photo-shopped celebrities don’t even have the ability to sweat; however, all evidence to the contrary. Indeed they do sweat and sometimes it’s a little more than we can handle.
Did you know that there’s a surgery for excessive sweating? It’s called a hyperhidrosis surgical treatment and it’s probably been used and abused by nearly every celeb to walk the red carpet. Botox injections are inserted into the armpits to obstruct the sweat from coming out.
Beautiful women such as the sixth richest woman in entertainment –  Matthew McConaughey, Jeremy Piven  – who has based her career on her beautiful pop voice and seriously hot body could do with some of those, along with her beautiful entertainment peer – the lovely but sweaty miss Scarlette Johanson. They could both do with one of those, don’t you think?
#3 –Colonic – With the incredible health craze that is going on these days, it’s important to take care of the bowels – at least that’s what many of the most well-known celebs have to say. Trendy and un-intrusive colon cleanses have been promoted shamelessly by some of the most glamorous Hollywood queens such as Paris Hilton, Beyonce, Gwyneth Paltrow and even Oprah.
While they are not so shy to tell about their trendy colon drinks, they are much more tight-lipped about any colonic procedures they may or may not have had. Certainly celebs get these embarrassing colon surgeries; however, unlike the colon cleanse drinks, they are kept on the down-low.
#4 –Urinary Incontinence Surgery – Did you think you were the only one who still pees their pants long after potty training? You’re in good company, my friend. The incredibly famous Kris Jenner along with about one in three women is right there with you in the fight against urinary incontinence.
There are several causes for urinary incontinence ranging from pregnancy, having had multiple pregnancies, high birth weight in newborns, genetics, smoking, etc.  Any celeb whose undergone surgery to help keep their pants dry certainly isn’t shouting it from the rooftops.  And until Kris Jenner stops wetting herself on her national hit reality show, it’s a safe bet that she hasn’t gotten around to getting it done just yet, either.
#5 – Last but not least, there’s hemorrhoid surgery. It’s estimated that over half of the population will have dealt with hemorrhoids in one form or another by the age of fifty. From there, the numbers sky rocket. So why is this incredibly common problem so embarrassing? It just is. That’s why when word gets out about a celeb that had to get a hemorrhoid surgery it’s kind of a big deal.
How does word get out about such an embarrassing ailment, you ask? In the case of famous American rapper, Lil’ Wayne, it was scattered all throughout his court documents that his jail sentence had to be suspended until his raging case of hemorrhoids could be surgically taken care of. This is one hemorrhoid treatment that will never be forgotten as it tops our top list of most embarrassing surgeries for celebs.

Gywneth Paltrow Saved Life of Woman on 9/11

Gwyneth Paltrow inadvertently saved the life of a woman heading to work in New York’s Twin Towers on the fateful morning of 9/11 – the actress almost ran the finance employee over in her car as she dashed across a road.

Lara Lundstrom Clarke was rushing to the subway station to catch her train to downtown Manhattan on September 11, 2001, when she had a close call after stepping into the road without looking.
She recalls, “It was one of those mornings that felt good, you had a little skip in your step… Then all of the sudden, a silver Mercedes SUV came barreling down towards me. I stopped and they (the car) screeched to a halt.” Clarke made eye contact with the driver – and was stunned to see the blonde behind the wheel of the vehicle wasHollywood star Paltrow.
The brief delay caused the then-24 year old to miss her train. She arriving late for work at the World Trade Centre station just moments after the first of two hijacked planes had been flown into the Big Apple landmark by terrorists.
Clarke tells TheMortonReport.com, “At that time I was annoyed at everything that had made me late that day, including Gwyneth Paltrow… (But) if I had made that train I would have been at my desk on the 77th floor of 2 World Trade Center.” She wrote a letter to Paltrow detailing her experience on the morning of the terrorist attacks and the actress’ publicist reveals the star was “deeply moved” by the story.

Gwyneth Paltrow Flies Solo At Walk Of Fame Unveiling

Gwyneth Paltrow went solo as she unveiled her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday (Dec 13) – leaving her husband Chris Martin and their two kids at home.

The Oscar winner was the 30th and final inductee of 2010 to get a coveted plaque on Hollywood Boulevard for her achievements in film.
And, while most stars choose to make their big day a family affair, intensely private Paltrow – who is rarely seen with her Coldplay rocker partner – decided to go it alone.
Instead, she invited her Country Strong co-stars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill to induct her into the famous monument, while Matthew Morrison, who sang and danced with the actress in a recent episode of Glee, was also in attendance.
However, Paltrow admitted she would one day like to see her grandkids visit her star: “This city is so much a part of my heart and soul, and the idea that my grandchildren can one day come and see my name on the sidewalk is very overwhelming.”
