The soundtrack to Disney’s winter movie Frozen has landed the film a very rare double in the U.S. — number ones on the Billboard 200 album chart and the box office countdown in the same week.
It becomes only the fourth animated film soundtrack to reach number one in the chart’s 58-year history, ending Beyonce’s reign at the top of the countdown in the process.
The project, featuring songs by the movie’s actresses Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel, and pop star Demi Lovato, reaches the top with New Year week sales of 165,000 and claims the number one spot as much of America freezes as winter weather brings many cities to a standstill.
Beyonce’s self-titled album drops a spot from number one, where it spent three weeks, while Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2 stays put at three and Katy Perry’s PRISM rises from five to four.
Meanwhile, Timber, Ke$ha’s new collaboration with Pitbull, ends Eminem and Rihanna’s four-week reign at the top of the Bilboard Hot 100 singles countdown – and lands a TransAtlantic double. The track hit the top of the U.K. charts on Sunday.
The news will give the Tik Tok singer something to smile about after checking into rehab last week to seek treatment for an eating disorder.
Katy Perry reportedly demands a director’s chair be placed in her room before she will check into a hotel.
The pop star’s penchant for a movie mogul’s seat is just one of a list of items she has one of her aides give to hotel staff before she will stay at any hotel in the world.
According to Life & Style magazine, Katy also requires a selection of snacks with a bowl of ranch dressing, at least six different sodas and beverages, a coffee maker and a full-length mirror for her stays.
Katy’s boyfriend John Mayer also makes a series of specific requests. Among his must-have items are a bottle of fine whiskey, bottles of water, various sodas and a platter of fresh fruit.
The couple’s demands also allegedly extend to their riders for concerts, TV appearances and radio promos.
A source told the publication: “John and Katy get VIP treatment wherever they go. It’s usually all the same items for TV shows, backstage at concerts and hotels.”
Katy and John have recently been promoting their duet, Who You Love, together and are believed to have spent the Christmas holidays with one another.

U.S. singer Katy Perry said she and boyfriend John Mayer will often go an entire day without talking at the home they share to rest their voices.
The singers both need frequent vocal rest, especially Mayer, who recently suffered serious vocal-cord problems, People magazine reported Friday.
“I understood that he couldn’t talk, and the only way he could communicate was through an iPad,” Perry said during an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” “Some days I have to go on complete vocal rest, like no anything, no whispering. Whispering is actually really bad. There’s just a lot of silence in our house most of the time.”
DeGeneres suggested the two begin playing Pictionary.
“We should just learn sign language,” Perry said.
You love who you love,” sing John Mayer and Katy Perry in their new single together, and their new video reveals that “who you love” is someone with whom you’re willing to ride — and fall off — a mechanical bull.
The two stopped by “Good Morning America” on Tuesday morning to debut their music video for “Who You Love,” which shows couples riding mechanical bulls in slow motion. Mayer and Perry also saddle up in front of falling fireworks, and sing to each other throughout the video.
The appearance marked their first television interview together. “We don’t know exactly what kind of body language we’re supposed to be exhibiting at the moment,” joked Mayer of the onscreen nuances. “You get too close, it’s a little too touchy-feely, and then you get too far, they say, ‘I don’t see chemistry.'” Perry added, “They’ll see chemistry in the video.”
Singer Katy Perry battled technical difficulties while performing at the NRJ Awards in France this weekend (14-15Dec13).
The pop superstar took to the stage to perform her hit single Roar, but had to stop midway through the set because she was out of sync with the audio and background screens.
Running onto the stage to alert Perry to the issue, the host asked her to “restart” because they “had a little problem”, and added, “I’m really sorry to stop all your energy.”
Despite the mishap, Perry had reason to celebrate at the prizegiving – she was a double winner at the ceremony, which was held at the Cannes Festival Palace in the south of France, as she scooped the International Female Artist of the Year title and landed International Song of the Year for Roar.
