TV TIME: Kevin Sorbo In New Hallmark Movie Channel Film "Shadow on the Mesa" To Air 3/23

Kevin Sorbo is Ray Eastman, a rancher who reunites with his long-lost son in the midst of an increasingly bloody feud with a corrupt neighbor in the World Premiere of “Shadow on the Mesa,” a Hallmark Movie Channel Original on Saturday, March 23 (8 p.m. ET/PT, 7C).

TV Best Bet: Kevin Sorbo And Wes Brown Star in ‘Shadow On The Mesa’ 3/23 On Hallmark Movie Channel

A magnificent cast of television veterans star in “Shadow on the Mesa,” a Hallmark Movie Channel Original World Premiere on Saturday, March 23 (8 p.m. ET/PT, 7C). Start with three-time Emmy® nominees Meredith Baxter (“Family Ties”) and Gail O’Grady (“NYPD Blue”) as well as Kevin Sorbo (“Hercules”), Greg Evigan (“After the Fall”), Barry Corbin (“The Closer”) and Wes Brown (“Deception”). Then add a compelling story about family and justice driving the production, which features Brown as a bounty hunter named Wes Rawlins. A quiet, calculating but honest man who knows his way around a gun, Rawlins is both devastated and enraged by the brutal murder of his mother by a couple of outlaws on the lam. Deciding to take matters into his own hands, Rawlins leaves the warm embrace of his adopted grandparents (Baxter and Corbin) and sets out to find a father from whom he has been long estranged, rancher Ray Eastman (Sorbo). Things get more complicated when Rawlins arrives to find his father locked in a bloody feud with his corrupt neighbor (Evigan), who has his eye on grabbing Eastman’s land. As Rawlins gets to know his father and two half-siblings, Ray’s deceitful wife, Mona (O’Grady) holds a secret that fuels the war to a colossal final showdown. When Rawlins jumps in to defend his newfound family, he finds that things are not what they seem on the surface. The truth about his mom’s murder comes out, and the line separating good from evil becomes muddled. It all makes for powerful human drama in “Shadow on the Mesa,” a period tale that paints a wild picture of the Wild West. It turns out that it was even wilder than we suspected, a place where only the strongest and the most determined survived.

Actor Kevin Sorbo Suffered Series of Strokes in 1997

U.S. actor Kevin Sorbo has disclosed he suffered a series of strokes while he was starring in the 1990s TV series “Hercules.”
He discussed his illness and recovery in the latest issue of Neurology Now, American Academy of Neurology’s magazine for neurology patients and caregivers, as well as in his new book, “True Strength: My Journey from Hercules to Mere Mortal and How Nearly Dying Saved My Life.”
Sorbo, now 53, said he suffered an aneurysm and three strokes, which left him partially blind and with nearly debilitating dizziness, nausea and weakness in 1997. The precise cause of the strokes remains unknown.
“I went through two years of hell before I began to feel like myself again,” said Sorbo.
The actor said he experienced continuing vision problems and overwhelming fatigue, which limited the number of hours he could work on his action series.
His production studio concealed his condition by bringing on guest stars and rewriting scripts to work around his limitations, he said.
He said he has since regained his health, although he still experiences residual arm pain from the circulation loss and nerve damage, the occasional migraine and a 10-percent blind spot in his vision.
Sorbo recently appeared in the film “Soul Surfer” and has several movies in post-production. He also is working on a television pilot.
“My illness made me special in a way that I never wanted nor expected,” Sorbo told Neurology Now. “I’m not ‘Hercules;’ I’m a mere mortal with human limitations and problems. But I am determined to not behave like a victim anymore.”

Kevin Sorbo Stars In "The Santa Suit" 12/2 On Hallmark Channel

Hallmark Channelthe biggest holiday destination in television, presents a Hallmark Channel Original Movie World Premiere, “The Santa Suit,” starring Kevin Sorbo (“Andromeda,” “Hercules”), Thursday, December 2 (8p.m. ET/PT, 7C).  In “The Santa Suit,” Sorbo plays greedy elitist and Hunter Toys CEO Derek Hunter who looks down on the whole of humanity until he is suddenly transformed from Fortune 500 phenom to Santa Claus to learn that when people are stripped of worldly splendor, and have nothing except their humanity to define them, they tend to make more heartfelt and purposeful choices.
Drake Hunter belongs on the cover of GQ.  In his Savile Row suits and Caine Oxford shoes, the Hunter Toys’ topper is the cover boy for corporate success.  But Hunter has an odd disdain for Christmas, its symbols and sentiments, and everything else, except the green he pockets in profits.  Hunter has come up with a deliciously deceitful marketing plan this Christmas.  He has dispatched mall Santas throughout the city to whisper into the ears of boys and girls, “It isn’t a great toy, unless it’s from Hunter’s!”  There’s only one problem: Santa is watching, and he isn’t amused.
In an instant, Santa Claus transforms Drake into his own image – full, round face and belly, long, flowing beard.  Now Drake has a problem: He’s mistaken for a vagrant “Kriss” and forced into a homeless shelter.  With no family or friends to miss him, Drake/Kriss strikes up a relationship with Nancy (Jodie Dowdall, “Termination Point”), a social worker, and must take a job as a mall Santa himself to maintain his living arrangement at the shelter.  Drake also befriends Gemma (Briana D’Aguanno, “Flashpoint”), a young girl from an impoverished family who has become a latchkey kid because her mother has to make ends meet by pulling double shifts at…Hunter Toys.
Humbled and broken, Drake realizes the joy his toys will bring to children everywhere and the hope and security his company can be to parents who work there.  Firm in his belief that Drake will be a transformational figure in the lives of others from now on, Santa returns the man to his original identity.  Drake is teeming with energy and enthusiasm.  Christmas is coming and there are many dreams to fulfill!
“The Santa Suit” is a C/P Xmas Productions Inc.  Lewis Chesler, David Perlmutter and Rob Vaughn are the executive producers, and Marek Posival is the producer.  Rob Vaughn directed from a script by Kevin Commins.
