Legal issues just keep piling up for Lindsay Lohan. Hours after the actress was arrested for assault in New York City, California prosecutors charged her with three misdemeanors in a June 8th car accident. Lohan is accused of lying to police about who was behind the wheel of her Porsche when it collided with a dump truck on Pacific Coast Highway. Lohan told officers her assistant was driving at the time of the crash, but an investigation determined that it was actually Lohan who was in the driver’s seat.
The Liz and Dick star has been charged with reckless driving, providing false information and obstructing or resisting a police officer. The charges could result in a judge finding Lohan in violation of the terms of her probation in a 2011 jewelry theft case. Lohan could receive up to 245 days in jail for probation violation.
Lohan is also facing an assault charge in New York. She was arrested early this morning after allegedly punching 28-year-old Tiffany Eve Mitchell at Manhattan’s Avenue nightclub. According to reports, the incident happened after Lohan and Mitchell exchanged words. Lohan is said to have asked Mitchell for space. An insider said Lohan then sat down briefly, but got back up and punched Mitchell. Mitchell called police.
As Lohan was being handcuffed she reportedly said, “Oh my God! I didn’t touch anyone!”
Despite the scathing reviews of her performance in the Lifetime movie Liz & Dick, Lindsay Lohan is reportedly convinced that TV is the key to reviving her flagging acting career. RadarOnline.com reports Lohan is pushing her team to land her a starring role on a sitcom.
“Lindsay has asked her manager and agent to look into getting her her own television sitcom. Lindsay feels that the small screen would be a great way for her to revitalize her acting career and that a comedy would be the best bet,” an insider tells Radar.
Apparently, the sitcom idea came from former Two and a Half Men star Charlie Sheen. “Lindsay feels most comfortable doing comedy and it was Charlie Sheen that told her she should do it. Charlie told Lindsay that it was an easy way to make very good money and help her to get her movie career back on track,” the source adds. “Lindsay is loving the idea of having her own sitcom and would love to play someone in a story based on her crazy life.”
Lohan “isn’t fazed” by the criticism heaped on Liz & Dick last night. She allegedly believes jealously is the driving force behind the critics who slammed her. “She thinks everyone is insanely jealous of her, and like it or not, she was trending on Twitter last night,” adds the insider.
A Liz & Dick review on People.com complained that Lohan was “completely miscast” as the legendary Elizabeth Taylor, while Entertainment Weekly slammed Lohan’s “frozen face.” The 26-year-old actress has not commented.
