Miley Cyrus and Madonna team up for Cyrus’ ‘Unplugged’ special.  Cyrus says her song “We Can’t Stop” is like an update of Madonna’s 2000 hit song “Don’t Tell Me” — so it only makes sense that the singer enlists the help of the pop icon in performing the two songs for her MTV “Unplugged” special.

“A lot of what she represented for me is a lot of what I try to represent to girls now,” Miley, 21, adds.

“Not being afraid of sexuality, and really being who you want to be and doing what you want to do … ‘Don’t Tell Me’ is basically the same message as what I’m telling my fans in ‘We Can’t stop.'”

Ringo Starr, Paula McCartney, Beyonce, Taylor Swift and More To Perform at the 2014 Grammy Awards

In case you missed it….Beyonce and Jay Z have been confirmed to perform at the Grammy Awards this weekend.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Taylor Swift, Daft Punk, and former Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, are already set to perform during music’s biggest night and now two more superstars have been confirmed to hit the stage on Sunday.

Last week, reports surfaced suggesting the Crazy in Love hitmaker would open the show, while Madonna was rumored to be taking to the stage alongside one of the night’s nominees.

Paul McCartney, Madonna join Justin Timberlake for SNL Skit

Paul McCartney, Madonna and Barry Gibb showed off their comedic chops this weekend by joining Justin Timberlake and funnyman Jimmy Fallon for a Christmas edition of Saturday Night Live.

Timberlake and Fallon kicked off Saturday’s live gig by performing a medley of songs dressed as a tube of wrapping paper and a gift bag respectively, as they parodied tracks such as Ludacris’ Roll Out (My Business), Gotye’s Somebody That I Used To Know and It’s Tricky by Run-D.M.C.

Fallon then delivered the opening monologue by showing off impressions of David Bowie, Bob Dylan and McCartney as he acted out his dream collaboration, blaming heavy New York traffic for preventing the rockers from appearing in person.

However, as he began to mimic the former Beatle, McCartney himself stepped out onstage, much to the crowd’s delight, and quipped, “I was (stuck in traffic) but then I took a Citi Bike (public bike-sharing system). Am I too late to sing a song?”

The unlikely duo then launched into a rendition of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas as fake snow fell all around them.

McCartney’s unexpected appearance was just the first of many surprises – Madonna joined in a discussion about politics during spoof segment The Barry Gibb Talk Show, with Fallon sporting ’70s attire, a fake wig and fake facial hair to portray the only surviving Bee Gees star.

The Emotions hitmaker appeared to be in on the joke as he joined Timberlake and Fallon, who were both rocking vintage hair styles and suits, to close out the skit.

Even outgoing New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg made time for a cameo during SNL’s Weekend Update to discuss his plans after stepping down from the post early next year.

Saturday Night Live will return to U.S. TV screens for a new episode on Jan. 18 when rapper/actor Drake will serve as guest host.

Madonna Wins Vogue Lawsuit Over Music Sampling

Madonna has triumphed in a legal battle over her hit track Vogue.

Executives at a company named VMG Salsoul filed a lawsuit against the pop superstar and producer Robert ‘Shep’ Pettibone alleging they illegally sampled a composition called Chicago Bus on the 1990 single.

In the legal papers, which were filed in California in July, VMG Salsoul bosses claimed new technology had uncovered the alleged sample in Madonna’s song.

However, District Court Judge Beverly O’Connell ruled in the pop star’s favour, stating, “Having listened to the sound recordings… the court finds that no reasonable audience would find the sampled portions qualitatively or quantitatively significant in relation to the infringing work, nor would they recognise the appropriation. The court finds that any sampling of the (composition) was minimal or trivial.”

Richard Busch, the attorney representing the defendants, says, “We are thrilled with the decision and believe it is absolutely the right result.”

Michael Jackson Named Top-Earning Dead Celebrity

Late singer Michael Jackson has been named the top-earning dead celebrity for 2013, by Forbes Magazine.

The administrators of the King of Pop’s estate have brought in an estimated $160 million in the past year, according to Forbes magazine, thanks to deals with Cirque du Soleil and recorded music sales.

Jackson beats Elvis Presley, whose daughter Lisa-Marie was once the pop star’s wife, and Peanuts cartoonist Charles M Schulz, who comes in third with a $37 million fortune.

Elizabeth Taylor and reggae star Bob Marley round out the top five.

Ironically, Jackson topped the very much alive Madonna on the pop fortune list – the Material Girl singer was named the top earner on the 2013 celebrity 100 list, with $125 million in earnings.

Cher Says ‘Rejecting Winter Olympics Invite Was Hard’

Pop superstar Cher found it “difficult” to turn down the chance to perform at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia because she has never been asked to appear as an ambassador for the U.S.

The Believe hitmaker and gay icon recently revealed she had been asked by a friend to appear at the sporting event, but she declined the opportunity because she was not comfortable performing in a country where “propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations” is banned.

She tells E! News, “It was hard. I have so many Russian friends. I have lots of Russian fans and I have so many people there that I love… So that was difficult.

“I wanted to, you know, no one’s ever gonna ask me to come and either be the American ambassador or sing in the middle (of the Olympics) or do something in the opening, so it was hard, but also, you guys (gay fans) are my heart, you know, I can’t do it…

“The Russian people that I know are great and don’t agree with this (anti-gay legislation)… They just don’t agree with it.”

Cher isn’t the only celebrity to speak out against the new legislation – Lady Gaga and Madonna used their shows in Russia last year (12) to condemn the ban and voice their support for the local lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (Lgbt) community.

Danny Tenaglia And R3hab Team Up With Ono To Reinvent ‘Walking On Thin Ice’

Following a decade of dancefloor domination as her alter-ego ONO, Yoko Onocomes full circle with the release of brand new remixes of her landmark 1981 classic “WALKING ON THIN ICE” from Grammy-nominated house musiclegend DANNY TENAGLIA and Dutch EDM heavyweight R3HAB.

In 2003, MIND TRAIN and TWISTED RECORDS took this song to the top of the Billboard Club chart kicking off ONO’S streak of 10 #1 BILLBOARD HOT DANCE CLUB PLAY chart-topping club hits, including “HOLD ME”, “TALKING TO THE UNIVERSE”, “MOVE ON FAST”, “I’M NOT GETTING ENOUGH”, “NO NO NO” and “EVERYMAN / EVERYWOMAN”.

Ten years on, ONO revisits “WALKING ON THIN ICE” and teams up with DANNY TENAGLIA and R3HAB to reinvent the timeless anthem giving it a modern retrofit melding the classic with the contemporary – old school and new school – with blistering results.

TENAGLIA, whose studio output since the start of the 21st century has been greatly limited, dusted off his studio chops to deliver an incendiary rework of the classic cut. His first remix in nearly a decade, Danny comes out swinging with an epic masterpiece with all the hallmarks of his best work. In an era of A.D.D., Danny reminds us of the glory of a mind-twisting, continually unfolding 10+ minute journey into sound.

R3HAB has firmly established himself in the Dutch dance scene alongside Chuckie and Afrojack. With his crisp, high-octane productions, R3HAB’s become one of the most highly sought-after EDM A-listers with a discography that includes remixes for artists like LADY GAGA, MADONNA, LMFAO, JENNIFER LOPEZ, CALVIN HARRIS, KASKADE, FAR EAST MOVEMENT, PITBULL, DAVID GUETTA, and KATY PERRY.

Originally recorded during the ‘Double Fantasy’ recording sessions with John Lennon, “WALKING ON THIN ICE” would be the last recording by John and Yoko — recorded on that fateful night of December 8, 1980. Released in the early months of 1981, the pioneering electronic-injected dance / post-disco / nu-wave hybrid would become ONO’s definitive masterstroke and, easily one of her most accessible, best-known and well-regarded works, brilliantly capturing the kinetic pulse, tension, gritty nihilism and urban cool that defined the times then, and, in an acknowledgement to its timeless insights, continues to define them now.

The slightest of glances at today’s world makes it clear that we’re WALKING ON THIN ICE 2013. TENAGLIA and R3HAB get it, and nailed it.
