Marlo Thomas is joining Demi Moore and Miley Cyrus in Mandate Pictures’ coming-of-age comedy “LOL.”
“LOL’ is the American version of the 2008 French hit “Laughing Out Loud.” It is written by and will be directed by Lisa Azuelos, who created the French film.
“I am thrilled that Marlo is joining the cast of LOL to play my mother, said Demi Moore. I have loved her since That Girl and have been inspired by her work in front and behind the scenes ever since.”
Ms. Thomas has just finished her sixth book, “Growing Up Laughing.” It’s a heartfelt and hilarious memoir of her life as the daughter of a comic, Danny Thomas and a comedienne in her own right and tells how comedy has been—and still is– a major part of her life.
The book will be published by Hyperion, Sept. 28, 2010.
Principal photography on “LOL” begins this summer in Detroit. Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher of Double Feature Films and Tish Cyrus will produce the film.
