Miley Cyrus and Madonna team up for Cyrus’ ‘Unplugged’ special.  Cyrus says her song “We Can’t Stop” is like an update of Madonna’s 2000 hit song “Don’t Tell Me” — so it only makes sense that the singer enlists the help of the pop icon in performing the two songs for her MTV “Unplugged” special.

“A lot of what she represented for me is a lot of what I try to represent to girls now,” Miley, 21, adds.

“Not being afraid of sexuality, and really being who you want to be and doing what you want to do … ‘Don’t Tell Me’ is basically the same message as what I’m telling my fans in ‘We Can’t stop.'”

The Grammy Awards and a Taste of the Red Carpet

  • Dressed for Excess: It’s not as glamorous as the Oscars, but the 90-minute special Entertainment City: Live at the Grammys puts the focus on the Grammys red carpet. Will Madonna bring her latest boy-toy? Will Miley Cyrus show and if so how scantily clad? And what about Justin Bieber and his Lamborghini? Then the awards start at 8 p.m. on City and CBS (City at 6:30).
  • Bieber’s Golden Days: Fans of Bieber might look on it as nostalgia, given his DUI arrest last week, or maybe just another way to support their hero in his time of trouble, but Justin Bieber: Never Say Never is on the tube. Back in the days before there was peeing in buckets, ginormous strip club bills and threats of fisticuffs with paparazzi, there was this 2011 documentary showing Bieber in concert and hanging with his family and friends (CTV at 7).
  • Treasure Island: It’s like Canada’s very own Curse of the Pharaohs. The Curse of Oak Island follows brothers Rick and Marty Lagina in their hunt for the truth about the mysterious island off the coast of Nova Scotia. Reputed to be the site of a treasure, once sought by the likes of Errol Flynn, John Wayne and Franklin D. Roosevelt, the island also comes with a curse: that seven people will die before the treasure is found. The death toll now stands at six (History at 9).
  • The Plot Thickens: If you haven’t caught up with the excellent crime dramaTrue Detective, scan episodes 1 and 2 on demand or the TMN GO app and settle in for episode 3. Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) and Hart (Woody Harrelson) seek a scarred, tall man seen with murder victim Dora after an image at the burned church leads them to preacher Joel Theriot (Shea Whigham, Boardwalk Empire) and Cohle finds a connection with a woman assumed to have drowned years earlier (HBO at 9).
  • Games Behind Games: With the 2014 Winter Olympics set to open Feb. 7, the documentaryPutin’s Games takes a timely look at the IOC’s bizarre decision to stage the event in Sochi, Russia, a traditional summer resort for Russia’s rich that didn’t have a single Olympics-ready venue when it was chosen. Interviews with government officials and businessmen ahead of the most expensive Olympics ever exposes alleged corruption and the steep environmental and human costs of constructing a faux winter (CBCNN at 10).

Miley Cyrus Bangerz Tour Inspired By Ren & Stimpy Show Creator’s Designs

International superstar Miley Cyrus is turning her imminent tour into a life size episode of The Ren & Stimpy Show.

The 21 year-old singer is set to kick off her Bangerz world next month and she has now revealed the production design is inspired by the work of John K, creator of the animated TV series.

Cyrus reveals she has been talking to the artist about her ideas, and “his art is driving a lot of the tour”, adding, “Our whole tour is literally based on animals!… imaginative animals he’s made on his own.”

Speaking during a press conference, she also declared she will be giving away plenty of free merchandise to fans during the shows: “I’m a little bit of a hoarder, so I hope my fans become hoarders. I want to give them real things to collect. I’ll have things falling out of the sky that most people would sell at the merch table.”

“This is my mom’s worst nightmare, because I always hoard things from when I go to concerts… all the kids always want to keep the confetti, but I want to give them real things to collect.”

The tour kicks off in Vancouver on February 14th.

Check out the MTV interview below to find out more on what to expect from Miley’s new tour. Will you be going?

Miley Cyrus Rang in the New Year by Performing Sick

Miley Cyrus rang in 2014 with a headlining spot at Times Square’s annual New Year’s Eve bash in New York.

The pop star, who scrapped a show in Florida to perform as part of TV network ABC’s end-of-year TV marathon, sang Get It Right and Wrecking Ball just before midnight, but it was too cold for her to ‘twerk’ or show off too much skin. Instead, she and three dancers hit the stage in matching gold outfits and the pop star also wore a floor-length white winter coat to keep off the chill.

Cyrus smiled through the show even though she was ill – shortly before taking to the stage, she tweeted, “This cough/cold is not a good combo. please keep praying for me. If I can just get thru tonight I can have a nice lil break.”

She cheered up just before taking the stage when she told host Ryan Seacrest all about her “modest” costume, revealing, “This is the most clothed I’ve been in all of 2013… Due to standards and practices and also the cold weather, this is what we came up with.”

And she started 2014 with high praise from Courtney Love, who ended 2013 with the post, “if it wasn’t for @MileyCyrus 2013 would’ve been a dull dreary year. if you can’t agree with that, you’re an idiot.”

Miley Cyrus Responds to Joe Jonas Over Pot Smoking

    Miley Cyrus
has hit back at Joe Jonas after he blamed her for introducing him to marijuana when they were teenagers.

Jonas opened up about his past in a revealing article for Vulture Magazine in December and claimed Cyrus and fellow Disney star Demi Lovato had urged him to try weed.

But the Wrecking Ball singer tells the New York Times she did not force the drug on Jonas, insisting everyone is responsible for their own choices.

She says, “If you want to smoke weed, you’re going to smoke weed. There’s nothing that two little girls are going to get you to do that you don’t want to do. I thought maybe he (Jonas) was saying that like it was going to make him look bada**… We were so young that it’s actually like ‘How did you get peer pressured by me?'”
