Behind the Scenes at the Emmys Promo Shoot with Neil Patrick Harris (Video)

    Excited about The Emmys coming up and even more so that Neil Patrick Harris of “How I Met Your Mother” is the host of the  65th Awards show.  In an interview with USA Today, the actor said: “I love TV and the motley crew of people that are part of it. I think that makes for a better viewing experience of television than ever, and I’m happy to be the guy in charge of honoring that.”

  Harris has previously won three Emmys for his performance on “How I Met Your Mother” including one at Sunday’s Creative Arts Ceremony for his notable awards-hosting skills. “I want to do my own thing and hope people respond to it,” he notes. “I think the key is to try and be nice. I’m not so wild a fan of comedy at people’s expense.”

These eight commemorative memes were designed to highlight special moments from each season that capture the awesomeness that is HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER. They will be distributed via the show’s Twitter feed and Facebook page leading up to the season premiere.

Sony Pictures Entertainment to release ‘The Smurfs 2’

Get ready for the true blue Sumrfmania! Sony Pictures Entertainment to release ‘The Smurfs 2’ on August 2.

Mumbai: Beat the monsoon blues as the most adorable and widely popular blue Belgian friends are back to spread their magic on the big screen. Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) is all set to release live action/animated family blockbuster comedy, The Smurfs 2 in 3D on August 2, 2013 in India. The film will be released in English & Hindi in all key metros. It’s a sequel to the 2011 film The Smurfs and based on the characters and works of Belgian comics artist Peyo. In this sequel the friendly blue creatures from mushroom houses promise to entertain their fans withmore mischief and adventure. In this installment Director Raja Gosnell introduces two new characters, the Naughties, Hackus and Vexy.
The film stars Neil Patrick Harris, Brendan Gleeson, Jayma Mays, with Katy Perry as Smurfette and Hank Azaria as Gargamel. Joining the voice cast are Christina Ricci and JB Smoove as Vexy and Hackus.

2013 Primetime Emmy Nominations Announced

The 2013 Primetime Emmy nominations were announced in Los Angeles on Thursday, by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

In the category of Best Actress in a TV Drama, the nominees are: Connie Britton, “Nashville”; Claire Danes, “Homeland”; Michelle Dockery, “Downton Abbey”; Vera Farmiga, “Bates Motel”; Elisabeth Moss, “Mad Men”; Kerry Washington, “Scandal”; Robin Wright, “House of Cards.”

The nominees for Best Actor in a TV Drama are: Hugh Bonneville, “Downton Abbey”; Bryan Cranston, “Breaking Bad”; Jeff Daniels, “The Newsroom”; Jon Hamm, “Mad Men”; Damian Lewis, “Homeland”; Kevin Spacey, “House of Cards.”

The 65th Primetime Emmy Awards will be presented Sept. 22 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris and airing live on CBS.

Neil Patrick Harris Returning to Host 2013 Emmys

CBS says Neil Patrick Harris is hosting the Emmys again.

It’s the second go-around for the TV, film and stage star. He last did the honors at the “Prime Time Emmy Awards” in 2009.

CBS will air the Emmycast live from Los Angeles on Sept. 22.

But for viewers who just can’t wait to see Harris in emcee mode, he’ll preside over “The 67th Annual Tony Awards” on CBS on June 9. It’sHarris’ fourth time hosting that show, which salutes the best of Broadway.

Harris currently stars on the hit CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother.”

Celebrities Honor Troops Today

John Stamos, Neil Patrick Harris, Mandy Moore, and Denise Richards are among the stars who have taken to Twitter to pay tribute to the U.S. military on Memorial Day.

A slew of celebrities chose to mark Monday’s holiday by saluting the men and women who have fought and sacrificed to preserve the country’s freedom and they shared their thoughts and feelings with fans online.

Former E.R. star Stamos writes, “My heart goes out to the fine woman (sic) and men in our military – past and present. (and their families) thank you for our freedom. peace”, while comedian Harris tweets, “A heartfelt thank you to all of the men and women who serve(d) in our military. What you did, and continue to do, is awesome.”

Singer/actress Moore expresses her “gratitude” and “pride” for the troops as former Bond girl Richards remembers “the brave men & women who’ve lost their lives serving our country”.

Meanwhile, country singer Martina McBride adds, “So grateful for our military men and women, past and present,and their families,for the sacrifices they make so I can live free.Much love 2u (sic)”, and veteran newscaster Larry King writes, “Today is the most important holiday. It causes us to reflect about the horror of war. You can never do enough for those who have served.”

Others who marked Memorial Day with fitting tributes to the military include Kings of Leon rocker Nathan Followill, True Grit’steen star Hailee Steinfeld, rapper Pitbull, director Jon Favreau and country star Keith Urban.

Zac Efron Wants ‘Glee’ Spot

Zac Efron has appealed to the producers at Glee for a guest role on the show because he’s a “huge fan” of Lea Michele.

Efron previously showed off his singing chops in both Hairspray and High School Musical, but after working withGlee actress Michele on the set of their upcoming film New Year’s Eve, he’s eager for another chance to star alongside the beauty on her hit TV series – and he’s hoping executives will cast him as a blood thirsty criminal.

He tells celebrity blog PerezHilton.com, “I’m a huge fan of Glee and a huge fan of Lea Michele’s work. It looks so fun. I would love to (be on it). Have they had a serial killer yet? It’d be fun to sing about.”

The popular high school musical show has already featured a number of guest stars during its three-year run – among them Gwyneth Paltrow, Neil Patrick Harris, John Stamos and Kristin Chenoweth. And Latin pop stars Ricky Martin and Gloria Estefan have both recently signed on for roles in the show next year.

Neil Patrick Harris to Guest Host ‘Live! With Kelly

Neil Patrick Harris will join Kelly Ripa as guest cohost of Live! with Kelly for a week of shows, Nov. 28 to Dec. 2.

The How I Met Your Mother star has filled in for Regis Philbin before on multiple occasions. Harris follows Jerry Seinfeld as the second guest cohost for the morning program after Philbin’s last show on Nov. 18. Seinfeld will host Nov. 21-23.

Guests stopping by Live! during Harris’ turn include Betty White, Maya Rudolph, Marcia Cross, Molly Sims, Angie Harmon and Kristen Johnson.

Neil Patrick Harris Returns to Nickelodeon As a Singing Dolphin

Actor Neil Patrick Harris is making a return to children’s TV to voice a talented singing dolphin.
The How I Met Your Mother star will re-join the cast of the Nickelodeon network’s award-winninganimated show The Penguins of Madagascar as the “sinister” Dr. Blowhole in the upcoming special, Blowhole Strikes Back.

During the hour-long kids’ program, the actor and father of twins will also show off his musical talents and perform four original numbers.
Nickelodeon President of Animation, Brown Johnson, says, “Our viewers loved Dr. Blowhole in the first special, so we were excited to bring the character back and work with the very talented Neil Patrick Harris again.
“In this second special, he has expanded his role with unforgettable vocal performances, including a stand-out power ballad.”
Harris previously appeared on the show in 2010 for the episode Dr. Blowhole’s Revenge, which garnered great reviews.
Blowhole Strikes Back will air on 9 September (11).
