Nickelodeon Celebrates Multi-Generational TV Legend Garry Marshall With Special Double Reunion Episodes: See Dad Run and Sam and Cat

Nickelodeon will host an unforgettable weekend on Nov. 9 and 10 with two iconic reunions of legendary television creator/actor/producer Garry Marshall’s landmark series,Laverne & Shirley and Happy Days, in brand-new episodes of Sam & Cat and See Dad Run. In Sam & Cat“#SalmonCat,” premiering Saturday, Nov. 9, at 8p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon, beloved comedy duo Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams (Laverne & Shirley) will reunite on screen in a scripted series for the first time in over 30 years. The following evening, a brand-new See Dad Run will bring back star Scott Baio with Happy Days creator Garry Marshall in a homecoming on their former set in “See Dad See Dad Run,” premiering Sunday, Nov. 10, at 8p.m. (ET/PT) on Nick at Nite.

In the brand-new Sam & Cat “#SalmonCat,” Sam (Jennette McCurdy) and Cat (Ariana Grande) are ordered to rename their babysitting business because it’s too similar to “Salmon Cat,” a TV show from the ‘70s. Sam and Cat must track down the show’s two original creators (played by Penny Marshall and Williams) and resolve their three decade-long feud. In the premiere of See Dad Run “See Dad See Dad Run,” David’s (Baio) TV dad Bernie (played by Garry Marshall) visits, but the reunion sours when he runs off and leaves his new baby. David must convince Bernie that being a real dad will be his best role. Marshall’s son Scott Marshall directs.


Garry Marshall, one of the biggest talents in the television industry who has made an impact with audiences around the globe, has created several of history’s most memorable shows and characters, including Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley and Mork & Mindy. He has also served as writer/producer on such shows as The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Lucy Show, The Brian Keith Show, Hey, Landlord and Joanie Loves Chachi as well as The Odd Couple, for which he received four Emmy Award nominations. Also a talented feature film director, Marshall directed several hit movies including Beaches, Pretty Woman, The Princess Diaries, Flamingo Kid, Valentine’s Day and New Year’s Eve. On-screen, he has appeared in A League of Their Own, Murphy Brown, Never Been Kissed, Orange County and Race to Witch Mountain, among several other films. He has also lent his voice on several animated series including Pinky & The Brain, The Simpsons, Father of the Pride, Chicken Little and The Looney Tunes Show.

Neil Patrick Harris Returns to Nickelodeon As a Singing Dolphin

Actor Neil Patrick Harris is making a return to children’s TV to voice a talented singing dolphin.
The How I Met Your Mother star will re-join the cast of the Nickelodeon network’s award-winninganimated show The Penguins of Madagascar as the “sinister” Dr. Blowhole in the upcoming special, Blowhole Strikes Back.

During the hour-long kids’ program, the actor and father of twins will also show off his musical talents and perform four original numbers.
Nickelodeon President of Animation, Brown Johnson, says, “Our viewers loved Dr. Blowhole in the first special, so we were excited to bring the character back and work with the very talented Neil Patrick Harris again.
“In this second special, he has expanded his role with unforgettable vocal performances, including a stand-out power ballad.”
Harris previously appeared on the show in 2010 for the episode Dr. Blowhole’s Revenge, which garnered great reviews.
Blowhole Strikes Back will air on 9 September (11).

Nickelodeon To Honor Justin Timberlake With The Big Help Award At The 2011 Kids’ Choice Awards

In recognition of his work as a philanthropist and environmentalist, Nickelodeon will honor actor and musician Justin Timberlake by presenting him with The Big Help Award during Nickelodeon’s 2011 Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday, April 2, at 8:00 p.m. (ET/Tape delayed for West Coast). Timberlake will be honored during the star-studded telecast, hosted by Jack Black at USC’s Galen Center in Los Angeles. The Big Help Award recognizes individuals who take actions to better the world and whose significant impact on their community has inspired kids to do the same.

Timberlake’s ongoing charitable work led him to a partnership with Shriners Hospitals for Children®, a health care system consisting of 22 Hospitals dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing pediatric specialty care, innovative research and outstanding teaching programs for medical professionals. He has been a dedicated supporter of the organization since 2008 and hosts the annual Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, a PGA TOUR golf tournament featuring a week-long series of events that raises money for their gracious programs and services benefitting children in need.

Justin’s commitment to the environment can be seen at his Mirimichi Golf Course in Millington, TN. Mirimichi is the first golf course in North, South or Central America to receive Golf Environment Organization (GEO) certified status. It is the also the first in the United States to be designated as a Certified Audubon International Classic Sanctuary, making it the only course in the world holding both designations. At Mirimichi, ecologically responsible methods are utilized throughout to enhance water quality and wildlife habitat as well as reduce water and energy consumption.

George Takei Joins Cast of Nickelodeon’s All-New Live-Action Comedy Series Supah Ninjas

George Takei joins the cast of Nickelodeon’s brand-new live-action comedy series, Supah Ninjas, one of five original series premiering on Nickelodeon in early 2011.  Comic book in tone and cinematic in style, the half-hour series follows three unsuspecting kids who are drafted into the secret world of crime-fighting after Mike Fukanaga, an average high school student, discovers he is descended from a long line of ninjas.  He is helped along the way by the spirit of his recently deceased grandfather (Takei), who appears to him and the team of “Supah Ninjas” as an interactive hologram who offers guidance, wisdom and training.  Picked up for 26 episodes, Nickelodeon will air a special preview of Supah Ninjas on Monday, January 17 at 9:00PM (ET/PT), following back-to-back premieres of the hit comedy series Victorious starring Victoria Justice.

Supah Ninjas follows Mike Fukanaga (Ryan Potter), a shy, awkward high school student who is hopelessly incapable of talking to girls. But when he discovers he comes from a long line of ninjas, that all begins to change. Under the supervision of his holographic grandfather (George Takei), Mike teams up with his best friend Owen (Carlos Knight) and his crush Amanda (Gracie Dzienny) to form the “Supah Ninjas,” a secret team of ninja crime fighters protecting the city from criminals. As if fighting crime and surviving high school weren’t hard enough, they are also sworn to conceal their identities, vowing to “stay in the shadows” and never to reveal their “supah” cool alter-egos.
With a career spanning five decades, George Takei is best known for his founding role in the acclaimed television series Star Trek, in which he played Hikaru Sulu, helmsman of the USS Enterprise.  Takei starred in three seasons of Star Trek and later reprised his iconic role in six movies and several video games.  More recently, Takei won over a new generation of fans with his recurring guest role on the sci-fi drama Heroes as Kaito Nakamura, the father of time-traveler Hiro Nakamura.  Takei will star next in the new film, Larry Crowne, opposite Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts, which will be released theatrically nationwide July 2011 from Universal Pictures.
Takei has also lent his voiceover talent to hundreds of characters in film, television, video games and commercials including Mulan,Mulan II, The Simpsons, Scooby-Do and the Samurai Sword, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Smurfs and George Lucas‘ Star Wars: The Clone Wars.  Adding to his body of work, Takei has also provided narration on many projects including the 2009 PBS series The National Parks: America’s Best Idea, the 2006 Peabody Award-winning radio documentary, Crossing East, centered on the history of Asian American immigration to the United States and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (cassette), which garnered the performer a 1987 Grammy Award nomination for Best Spoken Word or Non-Musical Recording.

Nickelodeon Enters Licensing Agreement for New Nick-Branded Attraction at Pleasure Beach Theme Park in Blackpool, England

Nickelodeon, the number-one entertainment brand for kids, and Pleasure Beach Amusement Park, one of Britain‘s top tourist attractions, today announced a licensing partnership to develop the first Nickelodeon-branded attraction in the U.K.  Nickelodeon’s popular shows and characters will come to life with more than 14 attractions covering an area of 6 acres at Pleasure Beach. Construction on “Nickelodeon Land” will begin this fall and the grand opening is scheduled for the spring of 2011.

“Pleasure Beach is a first-class amusement park and popular destination for families in the U.K.,” said Gerald Raines, Senior Director, Nickelodeon Theme Parks and Attractions. “This is an ideal location for Nickelodeon and a great opportunity to expand our global presence.  We look forward to offering the Pleasure Beach patrons experiences that are unique to Nickelodeon and based on fan favorites like SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer.”

“Nickelodeon Land” at Pleasure Beach will be one of several Nick-branded attractions and parks around the world.  In addition to “Nickelodeon Universe” in Minneapolis‘ Mall of America, “Nick Central” at Dreamworld Australia and “Nickland” at Movie Park Germany, there are Nickelodeon attractions at the Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla. and Hollywood, Calif.
