Nickelodeon’s 2011 Kids’ Choice Awards

Johnny Depp Slimes Kids’ Choice Audience

Johnny Depp “slimed” the audience at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards last night (April 2).
The 47-year-old star picked up the accolade for Favourite Movie Actor for his role as the Mad Hatter in ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and celebrated his victory by dousing the front rows at Los Angeles’ USC Galen Centre with green goo.
Before turning his slime gun on the crowd, Johnny said: “You guys are the future. Take good care of us.”
Singer-and-actor Justin Timberlake was also honoured at the ceremony, but for his charitable efforts.
Picking up the Big Help award, he said: “I want to dedicate this to all of you very cool, very loud kids. This is your world.”
Absentee Justin Bieber was the night’s biggest winner, picking up Favourite Male Singer and Favourite Song for his hit ‘Baby’, while ‘The Karate Kid’ took Favourite Movie and its star Jackie Chan was named Favourite Butt-Kicker.
Jack Black returned to host the ceremony for the third time, kicking off proceedings by dancing down the orange carpet to the Black Eyed Peas’ hit ‘I Gotta Feeling’.
He then joined the band on stage as they performed ‘Time of my Life’ and ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’.
The band were later honoured as Favourite Music Group, and in her speech, Fergie jokingly renamed themselves the Jack Black Eyed Peas.
Award presenters included Heidi Klum, Josh Duhamel, Joe Jonas, Russell Brand, Jane Lynch and Kim Kardashian, while performers included Willow Smith and Big Time Rush.

Miley Cyrus Leads Kids’ Choice Nominations

Miley Cyrus leads the nominations for Nickelodeon’s 2011 Kids’ Choice Awards.

The 18-year-old singer and actress will compete for honours in three categories, Favourite TV Actress – which she will contest with Miranda Cosgrove, Selena Gomez and Victoria Justice – Favourite Singer, and Favourite Movie Actress.

In the musical category, the ‘Party in the USA’ hitmaker faces competition again from Selena Gomez, as well as Katy Perry and Taylor Swift, while Ashley Judd, Kristen Stewart and Emma Watson are also up for Favourite Movie Actress.

Elsewhere, in the film honours, ‘The Karate Kid’ is up for three awards, including Favourite Movie, Favourite Movie Actor for its star Jaden Smith and Favourite Butt-kicker for Jackie Chan.

‘Toy Story 3’ and ‘Shrek Forever After’ will go head-to-head in two categories, with both up for Favourite Animated Movie and ‘Toy Story’s Tim Allen and Tom Hanks competing with ‘Shrek’s Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz in the Favourite Voice from an Animated Movie group.

Cameron – who voices Princess Fiona – told People: “Well, as everyone knows, the kids know their stuff, so I’m always very flattered to be their choice for anything. After all these years, Fiona is very close to my heart and it’s awesome to know that kids around the world love her as much as I do.”

Other notable categories include the Favourite TV Actor, which sees brothers Joe and Nick Jonas compete against twins Dylan and Cole Sprouse for the prize.

Comic Jack Black returns to host the ceremony for a third time.
