Four Generations at Royal Church Service

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge looked relaxed as they walked St Mary Magdalene Church, holding hands as temperatures stayed just above freezing.

One member of the crowd shouted: “Where’s the baby?”

Wearing a tartan Alexander McQueen coat and hat by Gina Foster, Kate smiled and waved to the crowds.

She was seen curtseying to the Queen, who was wearing an orange coat, as the family attended a private service earlier in the morning.

Prince Harry, still sporting a beard from his exertions in the Arctic with the charity Walking With the Wounded, attended alone despite rumours that girlfriend Cressida Bonas might join him.

About 3000 well-wishers gathered outside the church to watch them arrive.

Before the service a pilot entertained them by drawing a smiley face, heart and kiss in vapour trails in the sky.

The service opened with a rendition of Christians, Awake followed by Once In Royal David’s City.

Last year the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge missed the service, choosing to spend Christmas Day with Kate’s family in Berkshire, while Prince Harry was on tour in Afghanistan.

There had been unconfirmed reports that George’s grandparents Michael and Carole Middleton would attend this year. There was no sign of them but it is thought they may arrive at the estate on Boxing Day.

The royal habit of spending Christmas at Sandringham is believed to date to Queen Victoria’s reign.

The family traditionally open their presents on Christmas Eve and will enjoy a Norfolk turkey with all the trimmings after the service.

Prince William Presents Medals To Soldiers Who Have Returned Home From Afghanistan

The Duke Of Cambridge – who is the colonel of the regiment – looked dapper in a military uniform when he arrived at Mons Barracks in Aldershot to award medals to soldiers who came home in October from their first tour in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, where they were deployed for six months on Operation Herrick.

After presenting the medals on the parade ground, he told the men: “You did your job magnificently, helping the people of Helmand to face their future with greater security and confidence, and you all came home safe and sound.”

He added: “This speaks greatly of your professionalism and to your care for one another. We are extremely proud of you, and glad beyond words that you are safely home.”

Prince Harry, also known as Capt. Harry Wales, has also been deployed to Afghanistan twice, most recently completing a four-month stint of service abroad in January.

Prince William’s appearance comes after he attended the London premiere of “Mandela: A Long Walk To Freedom” with his wife, Duchess Catherine.

The pair were among VIP’s who were told of Mandela’s tragic passing while the credits rolled after the screening.

As they stepped out of the theater, Prince William told reporters that Mandela was an “extraordinary and inspiring” man and that his death was “extremely sad and tragic news.”

Royals: Prince William and Kate Observe Remembrance Day

Prince William and Prince Harry helped lead Britain in commemorating the country’s war dead on Sunday.

William, 31, who served as a RAF search and rescue helicopter pilot until September, was watched by wife Kate as he laid a wreath of poppies at a memorial in central London. He followed his brother, army captain Harry, 29, who donned his ceremonial Household Cavalry great coat with wide red collar, in paying tribute on behalf of his father, Prince Charles (who is in India with wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall).

As in previous years, Kate, 31, watched from a balcony above Whitehall, central London, alongside William’s aunt Sophie, Countess of Wessex, and Tim Laurence, the husband of Princess Anne.
