Ralph Macchio: Dancing with the Stars Judges Were “Rude”

Ralph Macchio is placing part of the blame for his elimination from Dancing with the Stars on the judges. The Karate Kid star believes the judges’ “rude” and “inappropriate” comments about his performance on Monday night put him in a tough place.

“We were in a hard place for even our fan base to pull us out of,” Macchio explained to People magazine after his elimination on Tuesday’s results show.

Macchio, 49, feels the judges were “making fun” of him and partner Karina Smirnoff instead of showing them respect.

“That was unfortunate because I thought some of the judges’ comments were rude and inappropriate and not constructive for how I could better myself. We felt circled as the one couple who didn’t get praised and held up like the others did,” he said.

“It just felt like the playing field wasn’t level for some reason last night,” Macchio added. “That was disappointing. But I was ready for this [elimination].”

Kirstie Alley, Chelsea Kane and Hines Ward will compete for the mirror ball trophy on next week’s season finale.

This week on Dancing with the Stars, the remaining 10 contestants had to tell a story in their routine using music and props. Petra Nemcova and Hines Ward tied in first place with 25 points apiece. Petra performed a heartfelt waltz which Len Goodman said had grace, elegance and fluid movement. Hines danced a samba. Carrie Ann Inaba said he performed the samba like he has “been dancing your whole life.”

Kendra Wilkinson and Chelsea Kane tied in second place with 23 points each. Len praised Kendra for her “gorgeous leg action” in the rumba while Carrie Ann described the routine as “hot, hot, hot.” Chelsea performed a cha cha cha. Bruno Tonioli said he feel the excitement in the routine. Carrie Ann advised Chelsea to work on her hip action.

Chris Jericho, Kirstie Alley and Ralph Macchio all landed in third place with 21 points. Chris performed a rumba. Judges liked the vulnerability Chris showed but thought he could work on his arms, fluidity and hip action. Despite falling at the beginning of her routine, Kirstie managed to pull off her rumba. Judges loved that she was able to overcome the fall. Ralph performed a rumba that Len thought needed a “bit of refinement.”

Sugar Ray Leonard and Romeo took fourth place with 20 points each. While Len thought Romeo took a “huge step back” with his rumba this week, he praised Sugar Ray for improving. Carrie Ann agreed that Sugar Ray showed a lot of improvement.

Wendy Williams took fifth place with just 15 points for her foxtrot. None of the judges were impressed with her routine.
