Iron Man 3 has been crowned the highest-grossing film of 2013 after raking in $1.2 billion at the global box office.
Robert Downey, Jr.’s latest outing as Tony Stark and his superhero alter-ego easily trumped Despicable Me 2, which claimed second place with $918.4 million.
Fast & Furious 6 raced into third with a $788.7 million haul, while Monsters University ($743.6 million) and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire ($738.3 million), which was only released last month, placed at four and five, respectively.
Others featured in the end-of-year top 10 countdown include Gravity, Thor: The Dark World and World War Z.
Actor Robert Downey, Jr. has been crowned as Hollywood’s Most Valuable Star for the second consecutive year in a new magazine poll.
The Iron Man actor retained his place at number one on the Vulture.com top 100 list, earning him the title of ‘The King’ by website editors, who took into account factors including film box office takings, studio value, and likability with fans and critics alike for the countdown.
He beat out Leonardo DiCaprio, who ranked second, followed by The Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence in third.
Sandra Bullock and Brad Pitt rounded out the top five, while Will Smith, Denzel Washington and Tom Hanks all ranked in the top 10.
