James Bond star Rory Kinnear has been tipped to take over as the next Doctor Who.
The British actor, who appeared in Quantum of Solace and Skyfall, has been named as the bookmakers’ favorite to replace Matt Smith in the cult sci-fi TV show when he steps down after this year’s (13) Christmas special.
Bookies had previously named Ben Daniels as the frontrunner for the coveted job, but Kinnear is now a clear favorite as bosses at Ladbrokes suspended bets on his appointment amid rumors he has been formally offered the job.
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes tells the Daily Mirror, “Kinnear has been a popular pick but after a flurry of activity pushed him into favorite, we closed the book (suspended bets).”
The Time Lord has previously been played by actors including David Tennant, Christopher Eccleston, Sylvester McCoy and Colin Baker.
