Paul McCartney Shuts Down Hollywood Boulevard With Hits Set

Paul McCartney shut down Hollywood  Boulevard in Los Angeles on Monday night for a televised street gig.

The former Beatle performed a 15-song set as part of an appearance on late-night show Jimmy Kimmel Live!

McCartney played two songs from the roof of the El Capitan Theatre before heading down to street level to complete the show for an estimated 10,000 fans.

As part of his set, the singer/songwriter performed a handful of classics and three songs from his forthcoming album New, which will be released next month.

Julian Lennon Clears Up McCartney Remarks

John Lennon‘s son Julian insists he was joking when he recently accused his late dad’s Beatles bandmate Sir Paul  McCartney  of “snubbing” him.
Singer/songwriter Julian took to his Facebook.com page last month (Oct11) to apparently blast McCartney for not inviting him to his recent wedding to American heiress Nancy Shevell and ignoring him at a reception in New York.

But he has now posted an update on the social networking website to tell fans his comments were a light-hearted joke which snowballed out of control.

He writes, “Seems many have taken my comment from the other week a little too far… It was truly written, hand on heart, with a whimsical heart… The situation was laughable, more than anything… Wasn’t whining… just stating the facts… Obviously people misplace & mistake my sense of humour & character… C’est La Vie.”

Julian is Lennon’s son from his first marriage to Cynthia Powell.

Sir Paul Mccartney Marries On Lennon’s Birthday

Sir Paul Mccartney married his fiancee Nancy Shevell in London on Sunday (Oct. 9) on the day his late bandmate John Lennon would have turned 71.

The Beatles legend, 69, proposed to New York socialite Shevell in May (11) after four years together, and they became man and wife on Sunday at London’s Westminster registry office at The Old Marylebone Town Hall – the same venue where McCartney married his first wife, Linda.

The couple received a blessing at a local synagogue on Saturday evening (08Oct11) as part of Shevell’s Jewish religion ahead of Sunday’s civil service.

Shevell wore a flower in her hair and a simple white dress reportedly created by MCCartney’s fashion designer daughter Stella, who was among the guests at the nuptials along with the singer’s former Beatles bandmate Ringo Starr.

The star’s younger brother Mike reportedly acted as best man, while McCartney’s daughter Beatrice, seven, from his marriage to Heather Mills, acted as bridesmaid.

The newly-weds were greeted by crowds of fans and well-wishers as they emerged from the venue to a hail of confetti and they smiled and waved to the spectators before heading off.

The reception is said to be taking place at McCartney’s nearby home in St John’s Wood, where workers were seen erecting a marquee in the grounds of the property on Friday (07Oct11). Coloured roses, bags of ice and sound equipment were also seen being delivered to the house.

McCartney has been married twice before – his first wife, Linda, died of cancer in 1998, and the star divorced Mills in 2008. Shevell has been married once before.

Sir Paul McCartney Will Marry In London

Former Beatle, Sir Paul McCartney has posted a notice that he and fiance Nancy Shevell are to marry at the Old Marylebon Town Hall in London.

Bizarrely it’s the same spot he and first wife Linda McCartney married back in 1969. McCartney, 69 and American Shevell, 51, have to wait 16 days after posting the marriage banns before they get a 12 month window to wed.

When writing the banns, Sir Paul reportedly gave his profession as “business executive” as oppose to “rock legend” or perhaps “musical genius”. Multi-millionaire Nancy however was listed as just “executive”.

Sir Paul’s first wife Linda died from breast cancer in 1998 and he divorced his second wife Heather Mills in 2008 following a rocky split and settlement of nearly $50 million.

Third time’s a charm.

Paul McCartney Unveils Late Wife’s Photos in New Book

Sir Paul McCartney has unveiled a number of intimate photos taken by his late wife Linda as part of a new commemorative book.

Linda McCartney, who died in 1998 following a battle with breast cancer, was a rock photographer, taking snaps of stars including the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan.

The Beatles legend has now handpicked his favorite images she took of celebrities, as well as his own family pictures, to be placed in Linda McCartney: Life in Photographs.

Images include a picture of McCartney diving into a swimming pool on holiday, his children playing while he stands outside in a robe and Hendrix performing in New York in the 1960s.

Paul McCartney’s Piano Hits High Note At Auction

The piano Sir Paul McCartney used to write The Beatles’ classic Yesterday has sold for $240,000 .

The singer sat at the 1926 Art Deco green miniature piano to compose the melody to Yesterday at singer Alma Cogan’s house in 1964. McCartney has famously told how he heard the tune in a dream and hurried to the piano when he awoke so as not to forget it.
A number of stars, including Sammy Davis, Jr., Sir Michael Caine, Sir Mick Jagger and John Lennon, also played the instrument while at Cogan’s London home.
The Eavestaff piano was sold by Cogan’s sister at an auction in London on Friday (15Apr11). It is believed the anonymous winning bidder is an overseas private collector.

Pam Anderson Thanks Peta Bosses For Award

Pamela Anderson has thanked officials at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) after she was named their Person of the Year 2010 – and she’s stepping up her campaigning following a meeting with Sir Paul McCartney.

The former Baywatch beauty was honoured for her tireless animal rights work over the last 12 months, and she’s now revealed that during her time in the U.K. performing in a traditional holiday pantomime show, she took the opportunity to hold talks with theBeatles legend.
McCartney is a longtime campaigner on the issue and wrote to Anderson in 2009 urging her to lend her support to vegetarianism – and he met with her backstage at his concert in Liverpool in December (10).
She says, “I’m so tickled to be PETA UK’s person of the year. I’ve never met a vegetable I didn’t like and I even included a pro-vegetarian line in my panto performance – I always find a way to speak up for animals! “I’ve loved spending time in the U.K. in 2010, and particularly Liverpool where it was my pleasure to share a drink with fellow vegetarian Sir Paul McCartney backstage at his intimate show… Thanks so much once again PETA for the honour.”

Black Eyed Peas To Headline Superbowl

The Black Eyed Peas have crushed Kenny Chesney‘s hopes of headlining the 2011 Super Bowl half-time show after American football bosses named the pop stars as next year’s main act.

Earlier this year (10), Chesney threw his cowboy hat in the ring for consideration as a performer for the big game in Arlington, Texas after fans created a Facebook page online, called Kenny Chesney for Super Bowl 2011.
He told reporters: “I would love to do half-time at the Super Bowl. That’d be fun.” But it’s the Black Eyed Peas who will run the show at Super Bowl XLV on 6 February (11), National Football League (NFL) bosses announced on Friday (26Nov10).
The “My Humps” hitmakers will follow this year’s (10) featured act, The Who.
Prince, Sir Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band, The Rolling Stones and U2 have all previously performed at the annual event, which hit headlines in 2004 when Justin Timberlake partially exposed one of Janet Jackson’s breasts on stage during a duet.
