New Slash Documentary Coming To Blu-Ray

A new documentary featuring ex-Guns N’ Rosesguitarist Slash is being released on Blu-ray on August 21.

The two-disc set, Slash – The Cat In The Hat: The Story So Far, which is being released via Pride, has a running time of 131 minutes.

Slash and the documentary are described in a press release: “The most iconic rock guitarist since Keith Richards, Slash has achieved the status of ‘most interesting hard rock act in the world today.’ And 20 years after the demise proper of the group with whom he made his name, he continues to build on an already remarkable career trajectory, while his old sparring partner in GUNS N’ ROSES produces pale imitations of past glories. This two-disc set includes a DVD documentary tracing the life and times of Slash, and a disc of audio interviews with the Cat himself during which he speaks candidly and honestly on almost everything he feels strongly about.”

Slash just released his second solo album, Apocalyptic Love, on May 22.

U2 & Slash Offer Tributes to Clarence Clemons

U2 took a moment to remember Clarence Clemons during their show in Anaheim, California on Saturday night (18Jun11) after learning the E Street Band star had died just before they took to the stage.

Frontman Bono broke the sad news to fans before reading out the lyrics to Bruce Springsteen’s Jungleland, which features a tribute to the legendary saxophonist, during a performance of Moment Of Surrender.

Bono told the audience, “I want you to think about a beautiful symphonic sound that came out of one man’s saxophone. I want you to think about Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, of brothers. I want you to think of Clarence Clemons.

“This man just carried music, and music carried him until this day.”Guitar great Slash has also offered up a tribute to Clemons, who died on Saturday after suffering a stroke earlier this month (Jun11).

The former Guns N’ Roses star took to Twitter.com and wrote, “Clarence Clemons was one of the finest musicians/people in this business. He will be sorely missed. RIP… Great sidemen like Clarence Clemons don’t get the full appreciation they deserve until they’re gone.”

E Street Band leader Springsteen led the tributes on Saturday, by posting his thoughts on his website.
He wrote, “He was my great friend, my partner. He loved the saxophone, loved our fans and gave everything he had every night he stepped on stage. His loss is immeasurable and we are honored and thankful to have known him and had the opportunity to stand beside him for nearly forty years.”

Eagle Records Proudly Releases Ronnie Wood’s New Studio Album ‘I Feel Like Playing’ – September 28, 2010

On September 28, Eagle Records will proudly release Ronnie Wood’s 7th studio album I Feel Like Playing. [MSRP $13.98]

Featuring twelve brand new cuts, written specially for this release, I Feel Like Playing takes its name [and cover] from one of Ronnie’s most vibrant recent artworks.  The color and verve of the artwork is equally reflected in the swagger and roll of the music on the album. Solo work has always co-existed alongside Ronnie’s band commitments and I Feel Like Playing is, he feels, his best album yet.  Many of the friends made along the course of an incredible career contributed to the album; guests include luminaries such as SlashFlea,Eddie VedderBilly F GibbonsKris KristoffersonBobby WomackIan McLagan and more.

Ronnie Wood needs no introduction to any fan of British rock music. Starting his career with The Birds and then Creation, it was when Ronnie joined the Jeff Beck Group that he truly started to stamp his identity on the music world. After that group split, Ronnie – along with Rod Stewart – joined up with ex-Small Faces Ronnie Lane, Ian McLagan and Kenney Jones in The Faces.  While Ronnie [and Rod] moved on after a couple of years, The Faces are viewed by all rock fans as a truly classic band; and in fact they perform a handful of dates in 2010 with Mick Hucknall on vocals. After the release of his first solo album, Ronnie was invited to join the Rolling Stones – in 1975 – and remains with them to this day.

Rightly revered for his time with The Faces, Jeff Beck Group and of course The Stones, Ronnie Wood has continued to chart his own course and his output of both high quality music and art has been a constant.  I Feel Like Playing is a great addition to his catalogue and all lovers of true British creative mavericks will find much to admire.
