BBC America Breaks Records With Doctor Who’s 50th Anniversary Special

The “Doctor Who” 50th anniversary special broke BBC America’s all-time ratings record, with 3.6 million viewers watching the first telecast and an encore on Saturday, reports’s Inside TV.

On Twitter, the show generated 1.8 million tweets, more than any other cable show for the week, the story adds.

As previously reported, the special set a Guinness World Record for the largest simulcast of a TV drama in history. The episode was simulcast in 94 countries and screened in 1,500 movie theaters.


Katy Perry Knocks Justin Bieber Down a Notch in Social Media Ratings

Recently, Katy Perry has surpassed Justin Bieber as the top icon on social media, now owning the most followers. Although Perry may have a better public image than Bieber, especially after complaints of his borderline-illegal behavior, both have shown the power of social media and what it can do for a career. They are two of the biggest music artists around today with multiple awards and platinum records apiece, but what they truly have is a marketable brand. Perry and Bieber know what demographics to target and are very successful at doing so.

For the longest time, businesses have ignored social media and in some cases are still neglecting or mismanaging their usage of the platform. But, during this past decade,more and more brands have discovered the benefits of a solid presence on social media. There are many companies who find maintaining a proper social mediaoutlet to be a challenge; however, the rewards carry the power to maximize the most out of public outreach. The best way to achieve that outreach is to attract a large following.

In Case You Missed It…Lady Gaga’s Impromptu Twitter Q&A

Lady Gaga did an impromptu Q&A on Twitter on Sunday night. Asked about the inspiration for her new album, ARTPOP, Gaga wrote: “I delved deep into my heart and mind and truly made a record that I wanted to listen to.” She also revealed that some of her favorite tracks on the album include “Dope,” “Sexxx Dreams,” “G.U.Y.” and next single, “Venus.” One fan asked if “Venus” is the “Telephone” continuation, and Gaga replied: “no maam, it’s the beginning of ARTPOP TRILOGY ENDINGS TO COME!”
