Mike Sorrentino Admits To Prescription Drug Problem

After denying he was seeking treatment for addiction problems, Jersey Shore star Mike Sorrentino has admitted he is getting help for a “prescription medication problem.”

“I have voluntarily taken steps to get control of a prescription medication problem I had due to exhaustion,” Sorrentino wrote on his official website. “I have spent the past several weeks getting treatment for this problem and recuperating from my work and appearance schedule. I appreciate my fans support and love you guys.”

In a statement released earlier this week, Sorrentino’s rep said the reality star was in a facility to rest. “He has spent the past several weeks at an undisclosed location for much needed rest and recuperation after his extensive production and appearance schedule,” his rep said.

Sorrentino, aka The Situation, will soon begin filming the sixth season of Jersey Shore with castmates JWoww, Snooki, Vinny, Ronnie, Pauly D, Sammi Sweetheart and Deena Cortese. “The house dynamic is headed into unchartered territory as their lives outside of the ‘Shore’ take off in exciting new directions,” MTV says of the new season. “While things will definitely be a little different this time when they hit the boardwalk, their trademark hilarity and family dysfunction will remain the same.”

Abercrombie and Fitch Offers To Pay The Situation To Stop Wearing Their Clothes

Abercrombie and Fitch wants nothing to do with The Situation or Jersey Shore! The clothing giant has offered Mike Sorrentino and his Jersey Shore co-stars a “substantial payment” in exchange for the group not wearing their clothes.

In a statement released Tuesday, Abercrombie and Fitch said Sorrentino’s “association with our brand could cause significant damage to our image.”

“We understand that the show is for entertainment purposes, but believe this association is contrary to the aspirational nature of our brand, and may be distressing to many of our fans,” the company said. “We have therefore offered a substantial payment to Michael ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino and the producers of MTV’s The Jersey Shore to have the character wear an alternate brand. We have also extended this offer to other members of the cast, and are urgently waiting a response.”

Neither Sorrentino nor MTV has commented.
