Twilight’ fans or the fans of Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner may find this film ‘Vampires Suck’ obnoxious. But those who are in for some fun at the expense of vampires without giving much thought to what’s going on this movie is a watchable one.
The film works on the same plot of the last three ‘Twilight’ flicks with the gloomy setting, the teen angst, and the awesome bodies of the werewolves. The love triangle this time is between the vampire Edward Sullen (Matt Lanter) human Becca Crane (Jenna Proske) and werewolf Jacob White (Chris Riggi), but this time unfortunately Jacob turns into a Chihuahua.
Directors and writers Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer’s this parody works better than their ‘Scary Movie’, ‘Epic Movie’ ‘Date Movie and ‘Disaster Movie’ is because they create scene to scene replica of the ‘Twilight’ flicks. Though there are some listless jokes on ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’, ‘Jersey Shore’, Tiger Woods’ affair, but it still works for the way it romanticizes the vampire world of ‘Twilight’ with fun.
This film happens to be Prokse’s first major acting job and she is a very good replica of Kristen Stewart aka Bella Swan. As Becca she copies the mannerisms of Bella to the T, with endless pushing of her hair behind her ear. The film also pokes fun at the whitish make-up that the vampires of Twilight had to sit through for filming.
It is hard to tell who is going to watch the movie, since the Twhi-hards are likely not to be amused with it and those who have written off the ‘Twilight’ franchise won’t want a reminder of it. But one thing is for sure, this parody is a good reminder to those cynics that ‘Twilight’ is a big deal and it has taken the filmindustry by storm.
