Wrecking Ball

Miley Cyrus Rang in the New Year by Performing Sick

Miley Cyrus rang in 2014 with a headlining spot at Times Square’s annual New Year’s Eve bash in New York.

The pop star, who scrapped a show in Florida to perform as part of TV network ABC’s end-of-year TV marathon, sang Get It Right and Wrecking Ball just before midnight, but it was too cold for her to ‘twerk’ or show off too much skin. Instead, she and three dancers hit the stage in matching gold outfits and the pop star also wore a floor-length white winter coat to keep off the chill.

Cyrus smiled through the show even though she was ill – shortly before taking to the stage, she tweeted, “This cough/cold is not a good combo. please keep praying for me. If I can just get thru tonight I can have a nice lil break.”

She cheered up just before taking the stage when she told host Ryan Seacrest all about her “modest” costume, revealing, “This is the most clothed I’ve been in all of 2013… Due to standards and practices and also the cold weather, this is what we came up with.”

And she started 2014 with high praise from Courtney Love, who ended 2013 with the post, “if it wasn’t for @MileyCyrus 2013 would’ve been a dull dreary year. if you can’t agree with that, you’re an idiot.”

Miley Cyrus: ‘I’d Rather Strip Than Cry’

Singer Miley Cyrus insists that she was happy to peel off for her Wrecking Ball promo but hated shedding a tear on camera.

The singer stripped to a pair of boots to swing on demolition equipment for the clip, attracting a slew of barbed remarks from critics accusing her of taking her sexy new image too far.

But the former Hannah Montana star is adamant she has no problem with nudity and was far more concerned with the segment of the video when she openly weeps on camera.

She tells YouTube channel VEVO, “For me, nudity has never been something that I’ve ever tripped about… I’d rather be naked in front of people than cry in front of people because I don’t like showing weakness and that shows a lot of, like, vulnerabilities. It was harder to be in that, like, emotional state in front of so many people on set rather than it just be about being naked.”

Miley Cyrus and Sinead O’Connor Twitter Fight Continues

The war of words between singers Miley Cyrus and Sinéad O’Connor has escalated into a potential legal battle.

What started as an open letter from one former pop princess to a current one – in which a concerned O’Connor, 46, urged Cyrus, 20, not “to prostitute” herself – has quickly turned nasty.

In response to the letter, the “Wrecking Ball” singer took to Twitter and posted a series of old Tweets from the Irish singer, who according to BBC News, has bipolar disorder, and at the time of the Tweets was seeking recommendations from followers for a psychiatrist.

Cyrus compared O’Connor to Amanda Bynes, who is undergoing psychiatric treatment.

The response incensed O’Connor, who immediately penned another open letter, alongside other emotional responses, all of which were posted on Facebook.

“Miley … Really? Who … is advising you? Because taking me on is even more … stupid than behaving like a prostitute and calling it feminism,” O’Connor wrote, continuing in another post, “Ms. Cyrus has today posted tweets of mine which are two years old and which were sent when I was ill and seeking medical help. She has done this in an attempt to deliberately cause me harm and hurt.”
