YouTube Rewind 2013 – Top Video Lists & New Video

Hey all you Youtube junkies, we  just got this press release….Have fun clicking all the links. Pretty interesting!

YouTube launched today YouTube Rewind 2013, their annual lists of the top trending videos, music videos, channels and a tribute video of the best moments from 2013 featuring Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, Macklemore, Sesame Street characters and over 60 YouTube channel stars from around the world.

Check out the new YouTube Rewind 2013 video at

2013 marks the 5th consecutive year YouTube has made lists of the most popular videos on YouTube and six billion hours of video are viewed every month on YouTube.

For YouTube Rewind 2013, the top 10 trending videos had 850 million views and the top 20 channels had 18.7 billion views, totaling one billion hours watched (= 102,000 years).

As more than 80% of YouTube views come from outside the U.S., international content continues to get bigger. For example, Swede Felix Kjellberg and Chilean German Garmendia are the #1 and #2 most subscribed channels on YouTube while Norwegians Ylivs and Kenneth Aakonsen have the #1 and #2 top trending videos.

Other pop culture trends from the lists include:

· This is the first year that YouTube has had three videos from brands on the list – Evian Babies, Volvo Trucks, and Carrie the movie – demonstrating that more brands than ever are understanding what works on YouTube. Brands are breaking away from the 30 second commercial and creating videos that feel more like content on YouTube and less like ads.

· The Fox didn’t just get 260+ million views on YouTube. It was also played on Dancing With The Stars, was one of the top searched Halloween costumes, and is being turned into a children’s book.

· There were 1.7 million videos of or about the Harlem Shake uploaded to YouTube this year, ranging from a squad in the Norwegian Army to NASCAR’s Jimmie Johnson after winning the Daytona 500. Harlem Shake videos were watched more than 2.5 billion times. It was the top rising search on YouTube in 2013.

· Miley’s music videos helped add the word “twerking “ to the Oxford Dictionary.

Lists are attached/below and playlists can be viewed on the YouTube Spotlight page at:

Lady Gaga and Manager Troy Carter Split

Lady Gaga and her manager have split just days before the pop star releases her new album, “ARTPOP.”

A source familiar with the situation confirms the two have split over creative differences. The source was not authorized to speak about the break publicly and requested anonymity.

Carter signed Gaga in 2007 and the two have worked together since as the “Poker Face” singer rose from club act to international superstar. The 27-year-old pop provocateur has sold nearly 9 million albums and become one of music’s more colorful figures during their partnership.

The move comes after Gaga’s tearful performance Sunday of new song “Dope” on the YouTube Music Awards and as she prepares to release her third album next Tuesday.

Miley Cyrus: ‘I’d Rather Strip Than Cry’

Singer Miley Cyrus insists that she was happy to peel off for her Wrecking Ball promo but hated shedding a tear on camera.

The singer stripped to a pair of boots to swing on demolition equipment for the clip, attracting a slew of barbed remarks from critics accusing her of taking her sexy new image too far.

But the former Hannah Montana star is adamant she has no problem with nudity and was far more concerned with the segment of the video when she openly weeps on camera.

She tells YouTube channel VEVO, “For me, nudity has never been something that I’ve ever tripped about… I’d rather be naked in front of people than cry in front of people because I don’t like showing weakness and that shows a lot of, like, vulnerabilities. It was harder to be in that, like, emotional state in front of so many people on set rather than it just be about being naked.”

L-R: Rebecca Holden and Abraham McDonald.

REBECCA HOLDEN and ABRAHAM McDONALD debuted their new CD “Dreams Come True,” (Silver Blue/Summit) last night at Nashville’s famed Fontanel on the Bobby Jones BET-show.

Rebecca and Abraham are shooting their video for the song as well while in Nashville.

Their song is already, after only two weeks, the Top Added AC Radio Record, and even before its release, Dreams Come True has over 7 Million YouTube Views.

Rock The Hoodie: An Appreciation By Rising Recording Artist Dayme

(New York)—When recording aritist DAYME first appeared on the music scene a little over a year ago, critics were enthused by her rocking-Joan Jett-directness as well as the theatricality of her performances. The fact that she wrote all her own material tipped off the music industry immediately to a new potential powerhouse.

Her live shows were proof positive that a new, vibrant artist had arrived. Proving the critics right, she has just written and released “Rock The Hoodie,” a passionate and personal musical observation; in light of the recent Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman trial and verdict.

Says Dayme, “I wrote the song (and shot the accompanying video) right before the verdict because it was close to my heart. The whole episode resonated so strongly within me, that the song almost wrote itself.”

Dayme posted the video online and in two days generated over 400K views. Currently the video is on You Tube’s Most Popular at #2.

The artist admits that several of the comments posted after viewing the video were negative and rather harsh. “I expected negative comments, but to comment further negatively on Trayvon, I found that very disheartening. I think the case revolves around the stand your ground law in Florida. Unity is where we need to be. The law failed him more than the jury is how I see it.”

Justin Timberlake Attends Marine Corps Ball

Justin Timberlake attended a Marine Corps Ball in Richmond, Virginia over the weekend as the date of 23-year-old Marine Cpl. Kelsey De Santis.

De Santis had asked Timberlake to the event via YouTube request and, after the event, she tweeted that she had a great time:

“The ball was epic! Had a wonderful time.”

Timberlake added on his blog that he was impressed with the young lady:

“I have to tell you, it’s not every day that I meet a 23 year old girl and she’s more worried about if I’m having fun or if I’m comfortable! It hit me all of a sudden that these were the type of people that look after us and our freedom.”

De Santis’ request came after another Marine requested that Mila Kunis attend a ball with him. Timberlake encouraged Kunis and was later asked out himself by De Santis.
