You won’t be seeing Zac Efron smile for awhile.
E! News has exclusively learned that the actor’s mouth is wired shut after he broke his jaw over the weekend. Efron slipped at the entrance of his L.A.-area home on Sunday in a puddle of water he didn’t see.
He not only broke his jaw when he fell, but he also suffered a gash that required stitches.
Efron is expected to make a full recovery.
In the meantime, upcoming plans to promote his new comedy That Awkward Moment have been put on hold. Also starring Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan, the movie follows a group of young guys who vow to stay single. It’s set for release in January.
Just last week, Efron attended a Vanity Fair event in West Hollywood honoring Jordan.
Zac Efron’s publicist is refusing to comment on swirling rumours the actorcompleted a stint in rehab earlier this year (13).
U.S. reports suggest the former High School Musical star received professional treatment for unknown issues in a clinic five months ago, but a rep is refusing to confirm or deny the claims, telling Tmz.com, “Don’t think we’ll be making a comment.”
Efron has thrown himself into work in recent months. He has been busy working on upcoming comedy Neighbors with Seth Rogen, and he walked the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada earlier this month (Sep13) to promote new drama Parkland.
A source close to the 25 year old tells E! Online, “He’s taking time to focus on working.”
Actor Zac Efron has his wrist bandaged up again — almost a year to the day since he injured his hand in an alleged fruit-cutting injury.
Reports suggest the former High School Musical star was sent home from the set of new comedy Townies in Los Angeles after a medic who checked out his injury declared he wouldn’t be able to carry on.
In April last year, the young hunk joked about an injury to his left hand when he showed up to the London premiere of his film The Lucky One sporting a bandage. He told curious reporters a fan had bitten him.
And it seems he’s keen to keep fans in the dark about his latest injury — this time to his right wrist.

The Notebook hunk scored 50 per cent of the vote from Details.com readers, while Zac Efron and Adam Levine came in second and third place, respectively. Channing Tatum and Bradley Cooper rounded out the top five.
Meanwhile, Ted beauty Kunis was the leading lady in fans’ sexual fantasies with 41 per cent of the vote, followed by Sports Illustrated model Kate Upton, Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Alba and Megan Fox.
Actor Zac Efron is giving one lucky fan the chance to enjoy a lunch date with him as part of a new charity auction.
The winner and three guests will be given the chance to sit down for a meal with the High School Musical star on the set of his new movie Are We Officially Dating? and they will also be allowed to see a scene being filmed.
Proceeds from the auction will be handed to The Actors Fund, a non-profit charity providing care for professionals in the entertainment industry.
The online auction on CharityBuzz.com ends on Tuesday. Will you be bidding?
After four straight weeks of dominating the box office, “The Hunger Games” could finally give up the number one slot on the charts this weekend, as romantic drama “The Lucky One” should have enough appeal to finish as the top box office draw. Also hitting theaters this weekend is comedy “Think Like a Man,” though at just 1,800 total sites it will have a hard time even landing in the top five. Another title getting a fairly limited release is Disney’s nature documentary “Chimpanzee,” which will hit 1,500 theaters this weekend as it hopes to find a home with family audiences.
Even though novelist Nicholas Sparks hasn’t seen one of his books turn into a runaway blockbuster, he’s provided the material for a bevy of bona fide hits over the years, setting the stage for “The Lucky One” to hit with its intended demographic. Recent Sparks adaptations like “Dear John” and “The Last Song” have played well with their target audience, helping secure a release of more than 3,000 theaters this weekend for “The Lucky One.” In a similarly sized release, “Dear John” hauled in $30 million in its opening weekend back in March of 2010, though most Sparks releases have opened in the $13 to $16 million range.
Starring Zac Efron and Taylor Schilling, “The Lucky One” should have a large enough built-in audience to at least get it off the ground this weekend, particularly with few other options for date audiences. Efron doesn’t have the same level of popularity as Channing Tatum, the star of “Dear John,” but “The Lucky One” still looks to be poised for a steady opening in the neighborhood of $20 million, which should easily be enough to topple “The Hunger Games” as it enters its fifth weekend in theaters.
With all three new releases putting up lackluster opening weekends, “The Lorax” once again cleaned up with family audiences, pushing it back to the top of the charts with a studio estimated $39 million. Even with a strong marketing push and the promise of big-budget action, “John Carter” managed just $30 million over the weekend and looks to be a significant disappointment for Disney. Also hitting theaters this weekend, comedy “A Thousand Words” and horror film “Silent House” both finished well below $4,000 per venue and look to be in line for very brief theatrical runs.
Though a $30 million opening weekend in March is normally a substantial total, “John Carter” came with expectations of turning into a franchise and had an enormous $250 million production budget, which is more than three times the cost of “The Lorax.” With a per theater average of less than $10,000, there doesn’t seem to be much of a domestic audience interested and “John Carter” will have to pull in plenty of foreign revenue to ensure that it’s not a complete bust.
The good news for “John Carter” is that it has already hauled in $70 million outside of the U.S., pushing its worldwide total past $100 million for its first weekend in theaters. “John Carter” won’t have too much competition next weekend, but it should still see a sizeable drop in domestic revenue and end up with a very disappointing 10-day total in the $50 to $55 million range. If “John Carter” can’t come close to $100 million domestically by the time it’s out of theaters, Disney will likely have a hard time getting a sequel into production.
Zac Efron boosted an American literacy campaign by readingThe Lorax to a group of school children.
The High School Musical star voices the character of Ted in the new film version of Dr. Seuss’ classic book and he marked Read Across America Day on Friday by reciting the story to 300 kids at the New York Public Library in Manhattan.
He teamed up with his The Lorax co-star Danny DeVito for the reading, which also marked 108 years since the writer’s birth.
Efron says, “As a kid, I remember thinking, ‘What would it be like to go on this big adventure…?’ Now here I am, two decades later, voicing Ted in Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax,. It’s an honor to not only be a part of this movie, but to work with the National Education Association’s Read Across America to inspire the love of reading in millions of kids.”
Most would probably agree that Taylor Swift is currently one of the most attractive single celebrities in the world at the moment, the 22 year-old country singing sensation having not only looks, but an intimidating list of ex-boyfriends to her name including Joe Jonas and ‘Twilight’s’ Taylor Lautner. However there might be hope for your average Joe yet, as in a recent video interview she revealed that she hadn’t truly been smitten with anyone yet.
Swift was among the stars at the premiere of Universal Pictures animated film ‘The Lorax,’ which sees her making her voice-acting debut as Audrey, the love interest of co-star Zac Efron’s 12 year-old boy Ted, and stopped on the red carpet to tell an interviewer for the Los Angeles Times, “Guys in my life – I don’t think I have a memory of [being impressed like] that. But that’s good! The bar’s really low.” There you have it chaps, get yourself fixed up nice and who knows what sort of chance you get with the globally renowned performer.
Her co-star Efron was certainly impressed with her at any rate, albeit being more thankful for her apparent skills at teaching guitar than for anything more suggestive. “She’s a great teacher,” he enthused at the premiere, explaining that she’d taught him a few things on the six-string. “In the past, everyone who’s tried to teach me guitar starts with music theory and stuff like that. I tend to just doze off after a little while. She went straight into songs. She taught me, like, four chords, and I’m already playing all the good campfire songs.” ‘The Lorax’ is out on general release on March 2nd.
