Elton John and David Furnish are planning to have another child via surrogate so their son will have a sibling. The couple became parents to 13-month-old Zachary on Christmas Day 2010.
Furnish tells London’s Evening Standard, “I would like Zachary to have a sibling. I think he would be better with a sibling than on his own. It’s something we talk about all the time. But in terms of when, where and how, nothing’s decided yet.”
“I think we are going to wait ’til this summer. Our life is always like a treadmill with Elton constantly working and touring. But when we go away to our house in France, that’s when we sit back and go, ‘OK, how is this working, how are you feeling?'”
Furnish adds the couple is considering using the same surrogate who carried Zachary, and they will not know who the biological father is.
He explains, “We could go back to the same egg donor, so biologically there would certainly be a connection between brother and brother or brother and sister.”
Elton John is convinced he came up with the perfect tribute to Levon Helm by naming his son after The Bandstar.
The Rocket Man immortalized the rocker in his track Levon and also named his baby son after the musician, calling the tot Zachary Jackson Levon.
Elton was devastated to hear of Helm’s death from cancer on Thursday, but hopes to keep his memory alive through his little boy.
He tells Entertainment Weekly, “When I heard The Band’s music from Big Pink, their music changed my life. And Levon was a big part of that band… He was the greatest drummer and a wonderful singer and just a part of my life that was magical.”
“They once flew down to see me in Philadelphia and I couldn’t believe it. They were one of the greatest bands of all time. They really changed the face of music when their records came out.
“I had no idea he was sick so I’m very dismayed and shocked that he died so quickly. But now my son has his name.”
Elton John has revealed that he wants to become a father again. It is understood that he and his partnerDavid Furnish have “set the wheels in motion” and they hope to have a little brother or sister for 14-month-old Zachary by the end of the year.
A source told the Scottish Record,“David and Elton have never hidden their desire to extend their family and believe the time is right for another child. By the end of this year, or the beginning of next year, there will be a fourth member of the John-Furnish clan. They are incredibly excited and loving every minute of parenthood.”
The couple, who had a civil partnership ceremony in 2005, have been raising Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John at their mansion in Windsor, England.

Elton, 65, and David insist they don’t know which one of them is Zach’s biological father and said they “both contributed” to the process.
